We stayed at Magic Blue for our honeymoon. The location is 2 blocks off the beach, across the street from the pedestrian mall. Its far enough away so you dont hear the noise, but you can walk there in 30 seconds.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with every last detail handled. Be sure to ask for a third floor room, as they have the palapa tops and very high ceilings. Hammocks are standard on the deck, and you get the feeling you are in a tropical jungle, not in the middle of the city.

At night, the pool is blue, as is most of the property. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful properties we've stayed at.

Staff was excellent, very friendly, and have zero issues handling the littlest request.

Food was outstanding. Be sure to try the tacos from the snack menus, for $5 its the best meal you will have in Playa.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel in early May (our second choice after finding out that La Tortuga across the street was completely booked). We booked directly through the hotel's website, which seems to give the best deal.

When we arrived at the hotel a couple of hours before check-in, they were still getting our room ready. So they held our bags at the front while we enjoyed complimentary margaritas outside by the pool. The courtyard of the hotel is very nice and well taken care of. Although we were only there for the weekend, I never found the hotel to be noisy or the pool area to be crowded.

Our room was on the first floor near the front of the hotel. The room was small, but comfortable and very clean. They provided bottled water and replaced it everyday and would bring extra if you requested it. This was great because you never know about the water in Mexico! My only gripe with the room is that the bathroom is TINY and the shower only had a half door. This meant that everytime we took a shower, we'd have to put towels on the floor to soak up all the water. I didn't understand that at all. I'm not sure if this was all the rooms, or just ours.

We only had breakfast at the restaurant next door the morning that we were heading to the airport. It was buffet style - - very convenient and pretty good. The people who work there are nice. However, I am the type of person who likes to try restaurants in the area (which there are many!).

I definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Playa del Carmen. The price can't be beat and the location is really great. You are on 10th Ave so its quieter than 5th, but literally just a few minutes away from everything.

My wife and I were looking for a high standard hotel, but didn't want a mega-resort or all inclusive. This was exactly what we were after. It's very relaxed, the staff are very friendly and attentive and seem genuinely pleased to have you as a guest.

The location is excellent, very convenient. Yes, we could occasionally hear music at night, but it is very central in a thriving tourist town, so what would we expect? It certainly wasn't a problem. We had a thatched roof room on the 1st floor and it was great, authentic, yet modern, very nicely done, and very clean and almost constantly made up!

The ambience was fantastic around the pool and the atmosphere was very relaxing and being an "adult only" hotel it was quiet and calm.

The adjoining restaurant is superb, the included breakfast is a very nice buffet with great staff and service.

It's a two minute walk from the beach and the included passes to the beach club are great, although it is a bit of a crowded area, but again, it's a thriving resort. The service and food at the beach club are very good.

We would definitely return to Magic Blue, and I would recommend contacting the hotel directly for prices as we saved around 30% by booking our flights directly with the airline and by reserving our room directly with the hotel. And that was 30% off the cheapest package rate on the biggest travel sites....
