The resort and rooms were beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. We had difficulty getting the golf cart transportation to various locations on the resort and its very spread out. We had a child and an adult with physical disabilities. If you don't make reservations the day before at the better restaurants you won't get a reservation which leaves eating at the buffets which aren't very good except the brkft buffet. The room service food was tastey and fairly quick. Loved the ocean side bar. The staff there was fun and the drinks were yummy and strong. The beach is ok but venturing out into the water was a nightmare on our feet with tree stumps, rocks, etc. As in other parts of Mexico, certain areas had a sewage aroma. This one is near the brkft buffet. I guess since the price is better than some of the other all inclusives we checked out you could put up with the anoyances. It might be cheaper but it certainly isn't cheap. Next time I'm checking out the Moon Palace per recommendation of several friends.

We spent 2 weeks at Blue Bay from 11th to the 25th of April and had a fantastic time.
Like some others, we had read various dodgy reviews before we went and must admit we went away with more than a little trepidation.
However, our worries were completely unjustified: ok, the sea was a strange colour - big deal and if you are not into karaoke the night life won't enthral you.
That said, if you can't enjoy yourself here then I think you should really just stay at home.

The staff are excellent, very friendly and are only too willing to help with anything. The place is ultra clean and hygiene is a top priority especially in food areas.
The food is superb, even the pickiest eater could not complain at the choice. For dinner, the buffet restaurant has a tremendous choice and there is a different theme every night
There are several a la carte restaurants including steak house, seafood, French, Italian and Mexican which you book a day in advance with your concierge who is situated at the front desk of your accommodation block. We always managed to book 8:30 reservations without a problem.

Every day the animation team have many activities e.g., water polo, volleyball, football, water aerobics and salsa lessons, late afternoon there was always a quiz, bingo then Spanish lessons.

The beach has fine white sand with plenty of sunbeds but not many umbrellas, the sea is a little disappointing due to the amount of seaweed but the hotel staff try their best to rake up the seaweed and remove it.

There is a free internet café in the reception area with 8 pc’s. Although this was very popular, we never had to wait long to get access to a machine.

This has been our 5th time in the Caribbean and it has been the first time none of the family have been ill with bad stomachs for even a singe day.

One of the other highlights of our visit was the wildlife (this does not include the under 21’s from Canada). Within the hotel grounds there are a number of White-Nosed Coati-Mundi (racoon type animals) as well as numerous iguanas. There is a also a great variety of birdlife including a flock of brown pelicans that fly along the coast a number of times each day.

We met lots of friendly people and would say hi to all at Jaime’s beach bar especially Mike and Gilda from Birmingham and Adele from Canada, the best stand-in bartender Blue Bay has ever seen.

“Customer Service Definitely needs Work”

May 5, 2008 -
We just returned from a week at the BBGE, and from reading the reviews above, some of those people obviously, even though were there on the same week, were at a different resort! We had very poor service from day one - starting with arriving to our room and noticing our frig had not been restocked for the "new" guests and a 1/2 drank beer still left in the frig! When called to report it and ask to have our mini-bar stocked (just arrived) they didnt show til the next day; lights were burnt out in our room, outlets didnt work, alarm clock didnt work (called for a new one-3 times, no one EVER all week responded to that request); constantly asking for things they took away after cleaning that werent replaced - clean wash cloths, mats, etc. when requested, never brought; last full day, got locked out of room (shut the access off) had to have new keys made and the concierge wanted us to walk to another building to pick up the new keys! - their mistake, but we should pick up? never any apologies for inconveniences ever...and I wont even mention the double booking of the appt we made at the spa and they claimed it wasnt anything they did wrong....the language barrier with most of the help also seemed to be an issue...it almost seemed that if you were in the "standard rooms" you got sub standard treatment - and we sure did! I would not recommend this to anyone

Stayed in November '07 & hapened to go back in April '08(after one night at the Viva Azteca). We were relieved and happy to return to this great resort. Rooms are very nice and spotless. At least 8 restaurants, and even the main buffet at night is very nice.
Breakfast and lunch near the beach was always great. Staff are super friendly and a decent tip will go a long way.
The pools are fantastic, beach has been re-developed with lots of space. I would go back to this resort anytime, and highly recommend it.

My wife and I booked through a travel agent before we had discovered tripadvisor. Upon reading all these negative reviews we were really worried that are trip would not be a pleasant one. This was not the case we had a great time. Check in was really quick considering our flight was 3hrs delayed and we did not get into the hotel till midnight. Nico helped us with check in and we asked for a non smoking room, he said not a problem and transfered us to another room building 5 plac something. They kept our bags and within 1/2 hr they were at our room and we were also informed that the Mexican a la carte was still open if we were hungry. The room was very clean and was one of those eco rooms where your card would activate everything. The bed was really comfy and no problems here. Most days we would eat breakfast and lunch at the beach restaurant. We had service from Enrique and we were most impressed with his service always smiling and willing to go the extra mile. The food was amazing each day and we ate at the a la cartes most nights with no difficulty getting a reservation. We ate at the steakhouse, seafood (Johhny was great) Italian these guys were most accomidating, and French all very good. The swing bar was very cool and Trinidad was very nice and would make any drink with a smile. The pool was refreshing and a nice temperature..not cold. The beach was fantastic and the sand was so soft. The ocean in front of the resort was not the greatest but walk out a few feet not a problem nice and sandy, not rocky like some people say. we also walked down the beach to the right for about 5 -10 mins and it was beautiful. The were lots of golf carts around didnt have to wait too long. We also purchased a phone card from the front desk and the manager came over to help us to set it up on the phone. We booked a day trip with the concierge in the lobby to Garrafon Park ( wow what a place, a real must see) and we saved money booking through him as appose the tour group. Check out was great and even though our bus did not get us till 530, we were able to use all the facilities including having a shower in the spa before we left. All in all a we had a great time, the food was great, the staff were all nice and helpful, and the entertainment staff Alex and Yorshi were great as well. WE will be back one day.
