I took a group of 14 to Boca Paila the week of August 11th. This trip was sold through frontiers for a steep discount one year ago. My employees loved it. While the fishing was not as good as on season, we caught more than enough bones, permit and jacks. Very little tarpon nor did most of the guides seem to know how or where to fish for them.
rooms were nice and kept very clean, make sure you get one of the ones with air conditioning as not all have them. The food was five star and the service to match. Guides were really the only real problem, most were wore out and really did not want to fish. One serious note: The trip from cancun to lodge is 2.5 hours and 1.5 hours is on a dirt road that is very very rough. If anyone in your group has a bad back this drive will kill them. Take a good book as the beach area is first rate with lots of palms to read under.
