Paraiso was dammaged by Wilma but is recovering very well. We were staying in Playa Del Carmen and went there for a day on the beach. It is a beautiful place. The beach is long and water shallow. We enjoyed drinks and a wonderful lunch. Can't speak of the state of the hotel rooms. But everything else was great. We plan to return.

Who charges for beach chairs where you are staying??? I've gone to beaches where they charge outsiders, but not guests. The day after our arrival we had breakfast and then walked over to the beach. Some guy comes out of nowwhere and demands that we pay. After dinner I approached the owner for a refund, and he refused. The next day we ended up parking our beach blackets at the hostel next door. I'll never go back to "Paraiso"..

You've seen the Corona commercials, right?
Here ya go. OK, the rooms are not the Hyatt, but that's not why you come here. The beach is incredible, the beach bar is even better. This is paradise. Our only regret is that we didn't plan more time on our vacation for this place. The actual beachfront cabanas were not being rented out while we were there, only the hotel rooms which are not directly on the beach, but just a short walk through the sand. Pull up a lounge chair under a palapa, order a margarita and some steak fajitas, and watch the aqua waves crash on the pure white sand beach.

Stayed in Cabana number 4 (nearest the ruins).
Pros: Perhaps the best location in Tulum, on a paradise beach, 20m to the warm blue Caribbean. Dawn viewed from the balcony. Good beach bar with DJ worth his salary, though pay extra for beach club.
Cons: The cabanas are now in pretty terrible condition; if you're not up for a few cockroaches and very basic facilities then do not stay here. Rumour has it that the cabanas will soon be replaced with some new ones.

They're not lying when they say this is the best beach in Tulum...except they charge you for beach chairs! Stayed in the hotel type rooms which were very run down. Screens on windows were broken so anything could come in (including our lizard friend), bathroom smelled horrible, and walls are very thin. Not bad for the price but there are better places to stay for the same amount of money. Not sure about cabanas....Stay somewhere else instead and come here to lay on their beach!
