This is written by two guys on a guys trip away from our wives!

Anyway, we rented a car in Cancun and decided to take a road trip from Cancun down to Xcalak and figured that Tulum would be our stop over point. Neither of us have ever been to Tulum before, so we did not know what to expect. All we knew via the internet was that there were a bunch of Cabanas to stay at along the beach there. We took the road from Route 307 to the beach and turned left and noticed the Paraiso and turned in there.

At the Paraiso, they have six bungalows on the beach and have a motel like a multi unit (perhaps 20 rooms) further away from the beach. This stay was in September 2002. We rented one cabana on the beach for $40 USD for the night. It had two double beds and a bathroom with shower.

The bungalow was built out of plywwod with plywood floors. No air conditioning, but there were shutters to open up to allow the breeze to flow through the bungalow. The only thing that could have been better was the bathroom could have been cleaner, but for two guys, it was OK.

The Paqraiso has a restraunt and has a separate tropical bar down by the ocean. There were wood swings at the bar that you sat on if you wnated to sit at the bar. Kind of novel! We only stayed one night, but I can say it was one of the most peaceful nights just sitting on the ocean on a very nice beach.

We left early in the morning to continue our trip to Xcalak so we cannot comment what it is like to spend the day there.

I would definitely stay there again. I cannot honestly say if our wives would like the bungalow because of the bathroom in the bungalow.
