We were very disappointed. Many of the reviews here are favorable, but that was not our experience at all. The hotel does have its own unique flavor, but if you're looking for comfort, relaxation and convenience - this is not the place.
Fodor's description is not accurate. You are not away from the noise because you can hear everything (people talking, animals nearby, etc) from your room.
There is minimal privacy.
This is not the place for families or couples. My wife and I felt like we were in a hippie commune. There are no windows, only wooden shutters, and so the noise carries throughout the place. People talking outside are heard late into the night. The manager was rude to us. There is no AC.
We stayed one night and then left, and lost over $300 in the process.
And it's not great if you don't have a car. You CAN walk to town, but it's down a bad road and you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere - nothing about it was convenient or comfortable. The beds are not comfortable either, which is challenging after long fun days of exploring beaches and ruins. This place felt more like camping. There was a gecko in our room at one point, which didn't go over well with my wife. It was miserable trying to fall asleep because it was so hot, and the fan and open windows barely helped.
Huge disappointment.
However, we moved to a hotel IN town and had a blast. It was NOT noisy in town either. We paid $20 less a night for a great location and AC! :) It's fun simply being able to walk out and BE in the town.

I am the manager at Uolis Nah and would like to begin by stating that Uolis Nah caters to active singles, couples and families. As in any hotel we experience some guests who stay up later than others but the general clientele are divers, kiteboarders and others who retire early in order to get the most out of the days.
There are 6 studios equipped with a full kitchen, dining area, and sleeping area. Each room has a patio or balcony that opens up to the garden area. These areas are not private as they are open to the property so as the rooms are private the outdoor areas are open. The majority of the guests will socialize and relax in these areas without a problem.
Uolis Nah is not a hostel and we tend to have mellow couples and families stay at Uolis Nah, not traveling backpackers.
It is very clearly stated that we do not have air conditioning in the rooms but they are equipped with ceiling/and or standing fans.
We take deposits to ensure that our reservations are secured. If we are not able to rebook a room because of a cancellation during the time of the reservation it is clearly stated that we do not refund the money. As many of our bookings come from the internet we remain strict on our refund policy.
While we try to please everyone there is always the chance that someone does not enjoy their experience. The managers are on the property at all times to ensure that our clients are cared for and their comments and questions are addressed.
Thank You,
Heather Froeming
