We arrived at night after a 450 peso(4.50 usd) cab ride from the Tulum Pueblo bus station. Checked in our second floor reserved room, Nahil without a problem. Nice firm kingsize bed. We expected more rustic than we got, based on reactions from other reviews here. In fact the shower was a little rough on the edges; some chipped tiles, rough caulking, cheap shower head . . but it was clean and therefore charming. The ceiling fan worked fine until 11:00 when the power goes out. It comes back on around 6:30-7;00 am. If you leave a two dollar (20 pesos) tip on your pillow you will get extra towels formed in a charming sculpture, such as a heart. Very cute. We chose the Nahil room over a cabana due to privacy. Looking at photos it seemed the cabanas would have questionable privacy. However, having seen them in person, I would consider a cabana. Either way I want a big bed, my own bathroom and at least a ceiling fan. The Nahil rooms suited us well. They are near the road and overlook the restaurant, so there is slow traffic and a variety of people and a little music as atmosphere. Sit out on the balcony for great people watching. By 10:00-11:00 pm all is quiet. We had wireless internet in our room. The staff change the wireless key daily. Ask the restaurant staff for the latest in the morning. The breakfasts are great, but the coffee is horrible. Don't bother. Go to Trecelunas across the street; Trecelunas has good coffee, in spite of not having cream, and their food should be on your list to check out. Zahra has a nice chill atmosphere, and is a good place to hang out at night. 2 nights out of the 4 we were there live musicians played.. Do not buy alcohol from the grocery store across the street. He charges double, to triple, the going rate in Tulum Pueblo. Everything else is acceptable mark-up.
