Tita Tulum has the charm of what Tulum once was. When I started traveling to Tulum in 1990 there were maybe 6 places to stay down miles of untouched beach - now it's different. Tulum is Beautiful and not built up like Cancun and Playa del Carmen- although Playa when I started going was 400 people and now is over 60.000 - get the picture. I remember when Tita opened in 1997- I was not happy. I can say now that I respect Tita and admire her for maintaining the charm of Tulum and not making her hotel a Grand one. It's a horse shoe shape place on 2 acres with a palm garden and restaurant. To give you an idea of how Tulum has changed. In 1990 you could leave your hotel and walk down the beach for miles without your swimsuit, Can't do it now with more than 70 places having been built down the beach to the Nature Reserve. I have been to Tulum 20 times and will always return. Tita Tulum is like a private island with a Beautiful Beach to just sit or swim all day. Take a real Vacation and do nothing, enjoy that there is nothing to do but be with yourself or your friends watching waves and listen to the sand blow. The rooms are nice. There are lights, hot water, shower, net for sleeping, this is important due to bugs. The food is really good and true to the area- no Tex Mex here. Each Cabana has a hammock on a porch. There is a phone in the Restaurant, I have never used it. You will not get sick eating here either.
If you go here please only tell really good friends that will not destroy it and can understand what a Treasure this place still is.

We saw a lot of review on this place and we decided that we needed to spend there sometime. Is not so cheap as the other places we stayed but it really worth as it is like Paradise.
The location is simply outstanding, room was so big very clean and right in front of the Caribbean sea.
When we got there our room, cabana 4, was not ready yet so we took the opportunity to eat some good food in the little restaurant and then went to the beach. Wow!!!!! Incredible white sand beach and beautiful sea, the water was so clean and warm that it was almost impossible to resist.
During the night you could hear the wind that was blowing on the palms and the ocean waves….it was really magic!!!!
Tita is a great person, and also her staff is friendly and willing to help. Food in the little restaurant is great and not expensive at all.
Stars in the night are wonderful, everything is dark and you can enjoy an incredible sky from the room terrace. Will go back again.

We have stayed at 'Tita Tulum' for the past six years during our son's February vacation and we have just loved it. In fact we are heading down again, for a 7th trip to Tita's. We have always found the cabanas clean, the showers hot, and the staff friendly. The white sand beaches and warm water make for a very relaxing vacation along with many other fun activities and Mayan ruins to see in the area.

There is no air conditioning at Tita's, but with the breeze from the ocean, we have never needed air conditioning, nor have we ever missed having a TV. While I can't say that Tita's is a rustic place by any means, it is also not your big-time resort type of place, which is why we have enjoyed it so much. In fact during the first four years we were down, the road down to Tita's was still a dirt road. Only in the last few years, have they paved the road all the way down to the entrance of the Sian Ka'an jungle.

The food in the restaurant has been great, with an interesting mix of a couple of Mayan dishes. The cost of a dinner at Tita's tends to be what it would be here in California if heading out Chevy's for instance. And the margaritas at Tita's are some of the best that I have had.

We were supposed to stay at Tita Tulum from Aug 17th to 22th, but unfortunately we had to leave two nights after our arrival because of the Hurricane Dean.

The two nights and three days we spend there were wonderful! The room (cabana 7) was very clean, with a king bed and mosquito net (didn’t used it) the bathroom spacious and stylish. Clean white towels every day. No problems with the salt water, you only notice when it occasionally drop in your mouth. Before check in we were worried about it been rustic etc… but the cabana seems to be new, it’s not that rustic and it’s very comfortable with plenty of space, simple & charming wood furniture.
The beach in front the hotel is very beautiful with small waves and white sand. They provide beach (long) chairs and towels.

For those that are in doubt between the pueblo and the beach, here is my opinion: There is nothing better than wake up in the morning and face this amazing blue sea only a few steps from your room.

The weather was so nice with lots of sun, some clouds, very hot and a constant wind. During the day, we never stayed inside the room but that breeze was enough to chill and the ceiling fan helped. We prefer the hammocks in front of the room or the beach. At night, there were 2 big storms, a little scaring but soooooooooo refreshing.
We only had breakfast once at Tita and it was ok for us as we are not used to eat in the morning. There are others restaurants/hotels for breakfast in walking distance, at night, in my opinion, a car is the better way to come and go to others places and restaurants.
The staff was great, very helpful in all occasions even when they told us we had to evacuate the city due to the hurricane. They returned all the money we’d paid in advanced for the rest of our stay.
We enjoyed so much Tita Tulum, so sad we had to leave before planned, but had a great time while in there. Next time we absolutely going to stay at Tita’s again.
