My wife and myself will never forget this truly relaxing experience at Luna Maya. It is just the perfect place for a loving couple trying to get away from everyday stressfull matters and enjoy some quality time together.
The surroundings, the jungle, the beach...are just beautiful.
We had a good time while having breakfast and dinner there and the staff was very polite.
The price is rigth too. Before booking we got information of the other hotels around and then we had a chance to visit them to have drinks and meals. We chose the right one to stay!

Hello, as many travellers who came in this place we found dirty and broken washroom. beach is small and dirty. Most of the room are on the road side wich is very noisy.... You have many others around wich seems muc better...

Stayed one night in one of two "sky rooms" on top of hotel. It's a very "open" building with thatched roof, a lot of wooden beams, and the air moves through crevices quite freely. Room layout also 'open', with simple walls without doors separating the bedroom, bathroom, toilet, and shower areas. View over the beach and ocean through large window. King-sized bed, ideal for couple. Basic restaurant, only head breakfast there, included in room rate, small selection but good food. Right on small but quiet beach. No electricity after 11.

Me and my girlfriend spent four nights in one of the two cabanas(shacks) at the Luna Maya. They have real rooms in the main building though, that seem to offer more comfort than the cabanas.
Our cabana had a concrete floor, wooden walls and a lockable door. It was small and dim, but clean and with everiday housekeeping. They had clean linen but the shower towels were worn. We've been offered candles, a mosquito net as well as a bottle with water.
Tip: When staying in a cabana, bring a light cotton or silk sleeping bag (inlay) and mosquito repellent.
We also got a small bottle of wine and wineglasses for welcome; the staff was overall very helpful and friendly even though a little bit overwhelmed with preparing breakfast.
Luna Maya offers dinner, too and seems to have a good reputation for seafood. We went to the nearby restaurants for dinner though.
We've been disapointed because we thought, the cabanas were directly at the beach, but they are next to the entrance near the street.
Anyway it's a clean and cosy hotel site with sandy soil, nice palms and torches that enlight the way to the toilets and shower. It was fun cleaning teeth at an open sink next to the beach, which is very nice, but separated by rocks from the larger beaches to the north. On the beach the Luna Maya has sunbeds and chairs, and a few hammocks in the shade of palms. You can secure your valuables in a safe.
Because of the high seaon between xmas and new years eve we advance-booked on the internet, because we wanted to make sure to have a bed when arriving in Tulum. We've been told we paid too much. It shouldn't be a problem to get a nice place in Tulum in any price range in the off-season by just asking and haggling.

Me and my new husband went to Tulum on honeymoon and decided to try out Luna Maya (the sign is very difficult to see, so don't miss it when you drive by--if you've passed Zamas you've gone too far) for a week. We were on honeymoon and just looking for a place to relax and chill out and Luna Maya certainly allowed us to do that.

We got a free upgrade to the suite which was very nice, we had an ocean view and the ocean breeze kept us cool at night. It's a charming, quiet and private place. I don't think any of the other rooms had the ocean view, we would not have stayed if we had not gotten the upgrade. It was clean and the purified water in the room was a great touch. The towels and sheets were all pretty worn which was disappointing, but they were clean. The breakfast was pretty standard with your choice of a fruit plate or french toast or pancakes, but the only meat option was the ham in the omelet, some mornings the juice tasted fresh and other mornings it seemed like Tang. Also, there's this cute little cat who will eat whatever you feed him, including canteloupe. Also, there's this conk shell at the reception desk that when you blow in it the hotel dog will start howling, it's really funny.

The beach was nice, I liked the cove, it was private and quiet. The beach was awkward for swimming in, it was rocky in patches and the water was sandy, but the water was that great warm temperature. The hammocks they have hung are nice. The bar never seemed to be open except at night. We would always go to the restaurants in walking distance for the happy hour deals. Zamas has a really nice diverse restaurant with a great menu at acceptable prices and it is 50 ft away.

None of the workers speak any English, the manager speaks English but he's rarely around.

If you're going in the low season don't pay ahead of time like we did, you'll get a better rate if you bargain for it when you get there, as none of the hotels are even close to being full.

I wouldn't stay here if I went back, at the price that they charge they should provide better than worn-out sheets and towels.
