Casa Violeta is a beautiful place with an air of rustic luxury and if it were not for the indifferent management, it would be a great place for a dream vacation. Our experience started in September when we requested rates and the owner quoted us higher rates than quoted on her website (I know this now). Our party booked all of her cabins (4 or 5). The owner mentioned that she had put in a bar/restaurant which sounded great as we would be able to have breakfast on the premises in the morning. What she neglected to tell me was that the bar/resto was basically in my cabana. It was so close that if the party happy patrons were not howling, the dishes were clanking. On our first night, the spanish staff were so drunk, that when my husband went next door to complain, they hugged him and declared their lifelong friendship... obviously the party continued and sleep (all I wanted was sleep) was delayed. There were several nights like this. Carla, the owner, never owned the problem and her solution was to find us another spot at a different hotel away from our friends who were lucky enough not to be butt up against the bar. She never followed up and we never moved (although we did try). On another night we returned to Casa Violeta to find a circle of people around an enormous fire. Apparently an ancient ritual that had been planned, which is fine but you might mention it to your guests so that they are prepared for what looked like a dangerous situation from the parking area. On the Sunday,20 of Carla's best friends showed up and took over the place, there was not a beach chair available to any of her paying guests. Even she realized how ridiculous it was and asked us if we wanted her friends to move. Anyhow, Casa Violeta feels a lot like crashing a party that you were not actually invited to, that you have to pay for. I recommend Tulum, it is lovely, but find somewhere else to stay
