We stayed the entire week at La Selva Mariposa and couldn't wait to come back to the relaxation and gorgeous setting each afternoon after a day of activities. Actually, our last day we cut our activity short so we could return to the B&B to relax and swim in the pools! La Selva was centrally located for everything we did -- ruins, beach, cenotes, biosphere reserve. Our stay was incredible and we would recommend it to anyone. The accommodations and food were excellent, the grounds were beautiful, and hosts Moe & Lou couldn't have been more helpful on everything. We spent a lot of time in the hammocks and in the private pools -- what fun we had! If you want privacy, relaxation and peace -- we highly recommend La Selva Mariposa.

Moe and Lou have the perfect getaway if you want to enjoy peace and beauty in the same place. Their Bed and Breakfast is kept clean, cozy and very welcoming. Walking around you will see how much thought was put into the construction and tasteful decoration of the Casitas, making their place very unique and classy. We were in the lap of luxury!
It's very nice to get back there after a day exploring the area. And the night sky is phenomenal. We don't remember seeing that many stars for a long time.
In the morning a beautiful setting welcomes you for a yummy breakfast to be enjoyed at your own pace.
With all this care and pampering, we left feeling like coming back soon to enjoy more of our hosts company and their interesting stories at the paradisaic La Selva Mariposa.
Thanks for creating a great memory,
Mark and Elisa

“Relaxing the the Jungle”

This bed and breakfast is a hidden mini-pardise with the benefits of a private resort. Hidden in the jungle 10 minutes from downtown Tulum, we relaxed in our casita listening to the bustling yet soothing sounds of the jungle and our private waterfalls. The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts, Moe and Lou, were very amiable and made the trip more than worthwhile. I recommend La Selva Mariposa to anyone that wants to relax and re-connect with themselves and nature. Thanks!

We recently spent 8 nights at La Selva Mariposa with hosts, Moe and Lou, and have marvellous things to say about our experience. This bed and breakfast resembles one of those beautiful places you would find in a 'home and garden' magazine, topped by generous hosts who serve delicious, healthy breakfasts.

We were the first guests in their new 'guest house.' The bedroom has an enormous and comfortable bed and there is a living room which can be converted into twin beds.

The design of the newest suite is creative, letting in light from every angle, and full of tasteful and warm touches, including soft colours and interesting Mayan art. Outside two sets of patio doors is a beautifully landscaped rock garden and pool, complete with a waterfall and a place to eat breakfast. Their whole property is a lush jungle. Lou's talent for design is exceptional.

Moe has put together binders with helpful descriptions and brochures. Even more than reading about places, it was the personal touch that made all the difference. Both Moe and Lou have good suggestions about restaurants and places to see, tuning into each guest's preferences. We also enjoyed a tasty dinner and New Year's cocktail they prepared.

At the end of each day, Moe and Lou were interested to find out how things had gone and happy to hear about any new discoveries or updates. They also paved the way for guests to meet and share tips with one another.

Their location, just 15 minutes by car from Tulum, puts them in a central spot for easily accessing Mayan ruin sites in Coba, Muyil and Tulum and not too far from Ek Balam or Chichen Iza. They are close to Aktun Chen with its fascinating cave of stalactites and stalagmites and zoo with monkeys and toucans. Tulum itself has small hotels, cabanas and restaurants along the white, soft sandy beach.

We should also mention that there are three gentle dogs who love as much attention as you wish to shower on them.

We felt spoiled by our experience with Moe and Lou at La Selva Mariposa and will highly recommend it to others.

“Enchanting Escape!”

La Selva Mariposa

After many visits to the Riviera Maya, we decided to leave the beach and discover another side of that beautiful area of Mexico.
Our visit to La Selva Marisposa was wonderful. It is located only 15 miles from the beautiful beaches of Tulum, on the road to the Coba Ruins. La Selva is an intimate Bed and Breakfast in the mayan jungle (selva). The owners and hosts, Lou and Moe have created an enchanting escape from the rest of the world. Beautiful waterfalls, and pools designed like ancient cenotes provide a peaceful and calming effect. The room was beautiful, and I enjoyed the Guatemalan textiles, and open air shower. We chose th have dinner there, and had a wonderful meal served high in the jungle tree tops. Very romantic! Breakfast was outstanding. We were treated to a tour of the property, and loved seeing many fruit trees, pineapples, avocados, orchids, and a huge array of palms.

We were so happy that we decided to go off the beaten trail, and experience "la selva".
