We have been to Cabo San Lucas numerous times over the years but this was our first trip to Dreams. We had stayed at Dreams Tulum last year and found this resort to be a much more positive experience overall.
First and foremost was the food, which can make or break your entire trip. No stomach uspets of any kind, we enjoyed meals at each of the restaurants except for Oceana as they had an age restriction for those under twelve so we did not eat there. Wonderful omelette or freshly made waffle each morning in El Patio, many thanks to the lovely woman who was our breakfast chef, and her smile each morning! Then Cappucino to go, so we could sit on the beach and watch the morning unfold. Lunch we would bring back to the beach from the Seaside Grill buffet and relax under the palapa while we ate. Can't wait to go back for more guacamole and chips!!! Himitsu and Portofino for dinner on several occassions, great each time, with thanks to Jorge our waiter for the fine service and help with our Spanish! Fond memories of the best Mango Daquiri on the beach and thanks to Raul and Daniel our servers by the pool and on the beach.
Speaking of the beach, it was not crowded, great to go exploring or for a walk to the Hilton beach to swim in the ocean. Definitely no going into the surf at the resort, but we snorkeled at Chileno beach and the walk to the Hilton was maybe 15 minutes.
The main pool was heated which was important as it was cool somedays with the ocean breeze. Although the pool was sparkling clean when we arrived it could have used a treatment before we left, as the water started to seem a bit murky. That would have to be my only concern with the resort.
We did not use the Explorers Club this trip, so can't comment on this locations service. It would be hard to beat the care provided at Dreams Tulum from last year which was exceptional.
Our room was a Jr Suite oceanview with microwave, kitchen sink and of course the always stocked minifridge. Housekeeping was always attentive, daytime and evening turndown service each day. The water pressure was terrific and always lots of hot water for the shower. I believe there are newer rooms but ours was quite perfect from the older section, sure there are signs of wear but nothing that would take away from your stay there. As always, cooler in the evenings so be prepared to bundle up after the sun goes down with a sweater, fleece, or hoodie. One evening mid week it was positively chilly and I was wishing for a warmer jacket!
The concierge and bell boy services were always helpful and we had excellent transfers to and from the resort with TransCabo that the concierge was helpful in arranging for us in advance via email. One day trip in to Cabo San Lucas was enough for us, the resort does have a shuttle but we opted for a taxi for convenience sake ($25 USD each way plus tip) with an easy drop off and pick up at Puerto Paraiso. A great lunch and a wonderful host at Los Deseos along the Marina for a much needed break from sightseeing.
Definitely a double thumbs up for Dreams!
