My wife and I spent five days at Dreams for our anniversary in June. We enjoyed our say for the most part. I think Dreams is a pretty good hotel, but if you are looking for Four Seasons type of service this is not it. We were not approached about any time share opportunities at the hotel, only at the airport. We had a pre-paid transfer to the hotel but had to run a gauntlet of sales people to even find them.

The employees were for the most part quite attentive and helpful. Check-in was easy and efficient. Our room was average, we did not pay for a fancy room -- but we were hardly ever there so that was OK. They restock the fridge every day which is nice. I thought the housekeeping service was a bit spotty.

The food was better than I expected for an all-inclusive resort. the "Asian" restaurant was good, except the sushi was definitely below average and there was very little choice. We really like the Italian restaurant for dinner and the breakfast buffet was good -- especially the omlet bar. I thought the lunch choices were average.

The only time we had a difficult time getting into a restaurant was the night we went to Hamachis (the Asian restaurant). The hostess was clueless. She handed us a beeper which went off after about a half hour. When we went to the hostess she said it was a mistake and handed us another one. We had not moved up on the list, and yet there were a bunch of empty tables. Some other people started getting really mad. We sat down to wait for a while (again). Then after we had been waiting another half hour we saw a couple whose name was after ours sit down. At that point I realized the hostess was looking for a "cash incentive" in order to seat us. I am happy to tip for good service, but this pissed me off. I complained and we got a table. We did not find this problem at the other restaurants, and hardly had to wait at all.

I had a good experience with the concierge. I wanted to set up a scuba diving trip to Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. They were helpful and set me up with Baja Wild who picked me up from the hotel and ran a good operation. By the way, the diving was great but the two-hour drive each way mostly on dirt roads was a bit much. The diving itself was through another company.

Because the food and drinks were paid for, and the chairs were really comfortable, we ended us spending the rest of our trip at the hotel reading books, which was unusual for us. I enjoy swimming in the ocean on vacation but this was not an option here due to the undertow, and the surf was really high during our trip. They even had a guard standing there telling people not to get in. This was a disappointment to me, but others may not care.

My wife enjoyed the Spa. She said the staff was professional and that they had really spent some money making it nice. There wan't much we wanted to go and see in Cabo and we were mostly looking for some good food and serious relaxation. From that perspective Dreams was great. We came home sunburned, several pounds heavier, and totally relaxed.

We just returned from our honeymoon at Dreams. We were there from June 27 to July 4.

No problems with checking in. We had a room on the 5th floor (which was requested, but I had never received a response to an email I sent to the hotel 3 weeks before), one very large suite: bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room, with walkout balconies from bedroom and living room. They provide a bathroom scale, so you can monitor how much weight you gain during your time there (if going all inclusive).

Service: highly variable. This was one of the main problems we had with the hotel:

-Front desk: pretty good. Anytime we requested something through the front desk, it was delivered within 30 minutes.

-Concierge: informative, but not that helpful. (We never received our honeymoon turndown service).

-Bellboys were looking for $$ when it came to reserving the supposedly free shuttle to Cabo. We ended up taking the city bus for $1 US (clean, safe, air conditioned) each way. Bellboys were not very organized: on our last day, they had trouble finding our luggage which was being held for us until our bus came - turns out there were only 4 sets of luggage with clear labels and he couldn't figure it out.

-Room service: it's free but very slow to non-existent - we ordered room service one night, the food did not arrive after waiting one and a half hours. So we cancelled it.

-Restaurants: very slow to quick service. There were days at breakfast where they cleared our table before we finished - that was too quick. But for the non-buffet meals (lunch and dinner), service was extremely slow. I guess it's Mexican time. Expect to spend at least 1 to 2 hours for each meal. Menus could be a bit more varied, but liquor selection very good. However, I do want to say that the quality of food is very good. Maybe that is why it takes so long, they prepare the food fresh (?). Mexican buffet night was not very good. We liked the buffet breakfast the best: this where you can get fresh fruit smoothies, fresh fruit juices, fresh fruit and omelets.

Beach: not comfortable walking in barefoot. It's not fine sand, more like pebbles. Even though we couldn't swim, it was still lovely sitting or walking on the beach and watching the waves. Not too many vendors on the beach, but they are still there.

Pools: 2 pools with swim up bars. We noticed people leaving towels on the lounge chairs and never actually coming back for them. So you have to be there early to get a spot in the shade.

Entertainment: little to none. The movies on the beach were nice. But other than that everything is over at 9:30-10pm.

Overall I'd say you should go here if you want to do nothing but eat, drink and lie on the beach or by the pool. But be prepared: bring lots of $1 for tips, have patience - it is Mexico, and learn some Spanish - seems to get better service. Oh, and watch out for those aggressive time share people.

Our stay started out nice. The transportation from the airport was on time and got us to our resort without too much confusion. Then we arrived in our room and it was beautiful and had a great ocean view. The trouble began when we looked at the letter left on the cabinet for us. They said there would be some "private events" and listed the dates. Three of the seven days of our stay had private events. What that means is that major portions of the facilities are closed. Pools and suntan areas, along with swim up bars and a restaurant. Now if that doesn't sound so bad consider that you are trapped and forced to listen to their EXTREMELY loud music from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Closing the door to your condo does not keep the sound out. Since the place is built with the courtyard in a semi-circle it traps the sound and sends it directly up and against all the rooms with great force. We tried everything to escape it, but the only thing we found to make it reasonable was to leave and be gone as much as possible. Well, that was not the ideal vacation spot for us, we were looking forward to time reading in peaceful settings while getting some sun. So, be aware that this may happen to you too. I never thought I would have to add this to my list of questions when I make my next reservation: are there any private events to which I will subjected to? The beach sand is very course there so be sure and have some beach shoes. The water was cold in June, suprisingly and we were asked to attend a breakfast and told "FOR SURE" we would not be sold to since we were already timeshare members.....not true! that turned out to be a very bad deal. All in all not a good vacation experience. The bait and switch was a real downer.

The place is beautiful. The drinks (premium brands included) were free flowing. The rooms were great. The negatives are:

They had lost our reservation (even though we had confirmed the trip and gotten a confirmation number from the resort 5 days before leaving the U.S.)

If you plan on going to town it runs 25 to 35 dollars each way for cab service. (The bus runs from right in front of the resort for $1.30 but the wait is hot)

I read alot of great comments about the Japanese restaurant on sight before I left. I do not know where these people usually eat sushi but it must be in a Shanghi slum (atmosphere is very nice). We ordered tuna shashimi and the blood lines were still in the fish along with the silver strings. Which leads me to my main negative. Although the breakfast and lunch were good the evening dining was not up to par. We ended up eating off the resort more than 50% of the nights of our stay.

We stayed at Dreams Resorts from June 24-July 1 and had a great time. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. I read all the reviews that people had posted and can't understand how anyone could have a bad experience. The staff was great, the food was great, and we truly had a wonderful experience.

We arrived late and had an easy, quick check in. We had a luxury suite and it was perfect for my wife, my son, and I. We didn't get hassled about a timeshare except at the airport. One guy asked us to come with him and I just told him to leave me alone and that was that.

Restaurants and food- I thought the food was very good. You could get almost anything you wanted 24 hrs a day. We ate at every restaurant and enjoyed them all. Himitsu had Asian food and the shrimp spring rolls were very good. I also had sushi, which wasn't bad. Portofino is the Italian restaurant (pants required at both of these for the gentlemen) This was also a very good meal. Ocean had a variety of seafood and the Seaside Grill had a variety of different meat selections. For breakfast we usually had room service or went to the El Patio. Lunch was usually eaten by the pool, served by the pool-side waiters. We also had dinner on the beach one night with a private waiter. We had steak and lobster. This did cost $150.

Bars- I enjoyed the Manatees bar. This is the bar in the main swimming pool. The service was always very prompt and the drinks were stiff. The alcohol is all top-shelf stuff. The Baracuda bar is also a cool hangout at night. This is the bar on the beach. The bartenders are all really cool!

Service- Overall I thought the service was great. The hotel was at capacity and we never once waited for dinner at any restaurant. We always ate between 6:30-7:30. Room service was fast and accurate. Our room was always spotless and cleaned by 2 p.m. at the latest. Everyone there is very helpful even though most only speak limited English.

Pools- We only hung out at the Main pool. The water was warm and it was very clean.

Explorers Club for kids- We were concerned that our 8 year-old wouldn't have anything to do. He loved going to the Explorers club. He didn't want to even spend time with us. The have activities all day long and the staff are great with the kids. If you are worried about your kids being bored, they won't be.

Activities off-site- We went to town once for a couple of hours we took the shuttle in (free) and taxi back ($22) it is about a 20 minute ride. We took a 2 hour ATV trip through the mountains and desert. This was a lot of fun. I played golf one day at Cabo Real, great course but expensive. My wife and son rode the motorized hangliders and they had a lot of fun. A couple we met chartered a fishing boat and caught a 200 lbs Marlin. There are some many things that you can do. The staff is very helpful in setting up activities for you.

Spa- My wife and I had two massages and they were excellent. The spa facility is very nice. The massages are a bit pricey.

We brought down one hundred dollar bill for tips. I should have brought more. The staff works so hard and the really appreciate tips. It is hard to get change and the only give you Pesos. There is no swimming in the Sea of Cortez. The waves were breaking at between 15-20 feet. It was beautiful, but very dangerous for swimming. We had a late flight and asked the front desk if we could have some place to shower before we left. They gave us an empty room and we were able to shower before our flight. I hope this review helps. Overall we had an excellent vacation and we are already planning on going back soon! If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to send me an email.
