My wife and I spent five days at Dreams for our anniversary in June. We enjoyed our say for the most part. I think Dreams is a pretty good hotel, but if you are looking for Four Seasons type of service this is not it. We were not approached about any time share opportunities at the hotel, only at the airport. We had a pre-paid transfer to the hotel but had to run a gauntlet of sales people to even find them.
The employees were for the most part quite attentive and helpful. Check-in was easy and efficient. Our room was average, we did not pay for a fancy room -- but we were hardly ever there so that was OK. They restock the fridge every day which is nice. I thought the housekeeping service was a bit spotty.
The food was better than I expected for an all-inclusive resort. the "Asian" restaurant was good, except the sushi was definitely below average and there was very little choice. We really like the Italian restaurant for dinner and the breakfast buffet was good -- especially the omlet bar. I thought the lunch choices were average.
The only time we had a difficult time getting into a restaurant was the night we went to Hamachis (the Asian restaurant). The hostess was clueless. She handed us a beeper which went off after about a half hour. When we went to the hostess she said it was a mistake and handed us another one. We had not moved up on the list, and yet there were a bunch of empty tables. Some other people started getting really mad. We sat down to wait for a while (again). Then after we had been waiting another half hour we saw a couple whose name was after ours sit down. At that point I realized the hostess was looking for a "cash incentive" in order to seat us. I am happy to tip for good service, but this pissed me off. I complained and we got a table. We did not find this problem at the other restaurants, and hardly had to wait at all.
I had a good experience with the concierge. I wanted to set up a scuba diving trip to Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. They were helpful and set me up with Baja Wild who picked me up from the hotel and ran a good operation. By the way, the diving was great but the two-hour drive each way mostly on dirt roads was a bit much. The diving itself was through another company.
Because the food and drinks were paid for, and the chairs were really comfortable, we ended us spending the rest of our trip at the hotel reading books, which was unusual for us. I enjoy swimming in the ocean on vacation but this was not an option here due to the undertow, and the surf was really high during our trip. They even had a guard standing there telling people not to get in. This was a disappointment to me, but others may not care.
My wife enjoyed the Spa. She said the staff was professional and that they had really spent some money making it nice. There wan't much we wanted to go and see in Cabo and we were mostly looking for some good food and serious relaxation. From that perspective Dreams was great. We came home sunburned, several pounds heavier, and totally relaxed.
