“great base for skiing”

Banff International Hotel

30 Apr 2008

Banff international is an ideal base for a skiing holiday in the rockies. The ski buses stop right outside. The breakfast buffet is great - plenty of food!

THe reception staff aren't the best, but I have seen a lot worse! The spa has been refurbished and is lovely - the changing rooms are very small though.

The room are a good size, but the decor is dated and quite dark. THis is the same throughout the hotel.

Overall the hotel scores well as they have everything you need and is really close to the centre of banff.

“Good place to stay while skiing”

Stayed 10 nights in Feb while skiing. Great position close to the shops and restaurants, and over the road from safeway but was still far enough away to be quiet. Ski buses stop at the Ptarmigan Hotel next door and their service to Lake Louise and sunshine was superbly organised and reliable. Room was good for the money, about what we expected. We were always out skiing or shopping or drinking or dining so it didn't matter the room was not huge. It was clean and in nice condition, had a fridge, a view and everything worked as it should, what more could you want. The bar and restaurant were dissappointing. We enjoy a relaxing drink after skiing and we tried the bar but it had no atmosphere, just a middle age lady serving with no real spark and hardly anyone drinking there. The restaurant was similar, hardly anyone in the place, food was ok but not great. We tried both once but didn't go back. Much better bar next door at the Ptarmigan and at Chilies. Ski lockers and laundry are good. Front desk and room cleaning were ok but the atmosphere in the place is nothing, I don't think any of the staff are trying too hard so I guess the management are not that interested in making the place better. A good place to stay while skiing but look for your after hours fun elsewhere.

“Very Convenient to stay”

Banff International Hotel

17 Mar 2008

We spent 10 days at the Banff International. It is indeed very central located so that you can always walk downtown and go right the corner to Safeaway.
the rooms are very spacious but furniture a bit few. It was difficult to put all our winterstuff in the wardrobe. The bathroom is small in comparision to the room and there also missing some Shelves. Beds are confortable.
Our room was quiet apart from the Canadian Pacific Noise ( Train) during the night. But it is the same for all hotels on the Banff avenue, the track is only abt. 500m behind.
Breakfast is OK although not big choice for those who don't like English Breakfast ( eggs bacon & Co) but rather good healthy stuff. Specials of the day for Dinner was very good.
Service is good and friendly and make effort to satisfy your needs. So since in winter you are all day out for skiing it is a good place to stay. By the way the ski bus shuttle stops in front of the next hotel, next door

“Right in the middle of town”

We stayed at the Banff Int. Hotel for Valentines 08 for 4 nights. The hotel is right in the middle of town so it is very convenient to walk to the shops and restaurants. The rooms are small but that seems to be common in the area, as I did a lot of research before booking our room. There are some newer hotels farther from town but you pay for the new. The hotels in the area are all pricey for what you get but overall I cant really complain. Once you walk outside you forget all about it. Its an absolutley wonderful place and we will be returning. We only ate once at the hotel and it was for breakfast on the day we were leaving so I cant really comment on that, the breakfast was good. We sat in the bar one evening and had a few drinks, it was nice and quiet. Besides that we were sleeping in our room and then out the door for another day of fun. Book your room and go.......it is worth it.

“Dont knock it until you tried it.”

Banff International Hotel

25 Feb 2008

After reading the other reviews i was a bit concerned about staying here, however we had two great weeks in Banff and this hotel was great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and always had a smile for usThe food in the resturant was good, the rooms were bigger than what we have had before, and were clean and comfy, they now also have a fridge in which was handy,as we were on room only, there is also an iron ,hair dryer ,tea/coffee maker and sat tv .,Ok the decor is a bit dated but remember your not spending your holiday in the hotel. There are free ski lockers and free safety deposit boxes. The hotel is in a great location for all the local bars and resturants and safeway is right around the corner,so not to far to walk when its below zero .The ski buses pick up just outside the hotel.I did find it got really hot in the room and so we had to open the window at night and if you are at the back of the hotel we could hear the trains which blast their horns as they pass through the town, ear plugs would sort that out.Or just turn on the ceiling fan.Theres internet in the lobby a nice bar area with plasma tvs. Theres also a ,jacuzzi pool area, and a sauna.
All in all we had a great time and would stay here again.
