The Ptarmigan was a beautiful hotel and the staff was great! Our third floor superior room offered beautiful high ceilings and an exception view from our own private balcony of several mountains!
The room was clean and tidy. the beds were extremely comfy and our stay was fabulous. Thanks Ptarmigan for making our stay at your facilitiy so enjoyable!!

Location, Location , Location, right on Banff Ave. a short walk from the center of town with all it's shopping and great eating places at your finger tips, Darn! I was delighted with our room, although there was no AC. However, by opening the door unto the balcony in the evening and with the fan going cooled the room very nicely. I can't say enough about the big beautiful bathroom, jacussi tub, separate shower and long counter & mirror, I was able to get ready for dinner at the same time as the wife, really great!

The morning buffet in the restaurant was a good bargain, with a excellent variety to choose from. the bar patio was a very good place for a pre-dinner cocktail.

The staff were very friendly and eager to help. Ample parking underground or open air. I do highly recommend this motel.

Big Bad Bob

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June. The location is great, very close to the centre of Banff. The hotel was clean and tidy and there was plenty of free parking in the underground car park which was convenient. The hotel wasn't cheap considering the room was quite basic, however it was clean and convenient, we would stay again.

The hotel is beautiful inside and out, with a great location. Our room was lovely. EXCEPT......it was a warm summer day, our "inside room" with a little balcony faced an atrium which was a heat trap, and our room had no A/C - just an oscillating fan. We resorted to opening the door to the hallway in an attempt to get a little cool air in the room. We sweltered all night. Also, though the bathroom tile had clearly been freshly redone, the bathtub enamel was worn and stained, and the back of the bathroom door and trim were missing large chunks of paint.

Mentioned the lack of A/C at checkout, and the staff said that hadn't been a problem in the past, as they're not used to warm summers. Well, it wasn't that hot out, but our room sure was. I'd recommend this hotel outside of the summer months.
