Myself , my husband and our teenage son stayed at the Banff Park Lodge for the first two weeks in July on a bed and breakfast basis, We had a large comfortable room with 2 king size beds and private bath/shower. The room was serviced every day and the bedsheets changed every second day. There was air conditioning but this was not working adequately. There was always plenty to eat at the buffet breakfast but sometimes you had to wait a long time for a table due to the amount of guests catered for by the hotel....there are tour buses on an almost daily basis. A good choice of food at the buffet breakfast but the hot food was never hot, usually warm and the same can be said for the tea and coffee served by the waiting staff who seemed to have some difficulty in putting a smile on their faces. There is a small pool and jacuzzi (which did not work) and a steam room.
The pool was quite nice to use after a day out walking or sightseeing but the whole pool area was a bit tired looking and could probably be doing with some refurbishment. That said we all enjoyed our stay.....the hotel is in a great location away from the downtown area a few minutes walk away.

I stayed at Banff Park Lodge in early July. I had a wonderful stay, the rooms were clean, the restaurants were good and the location was perfect.

My one complaint was about the concierge. Steve from Winnipeg was a fantastic, charming young man. Tyler was great. Robin (the Bell Captain) on the other hand was not. When we checked in, we parked out front and went inside. He came in YELLING that they had a tour coming in and that everyone had to move the cars immediately. If he wanted us to move the car he could have just asked, not yelled. The girl working at the front desk appologized to us for his behavior.

Now I realize that a hotel can become busy. I called down to get some amenities brought up along with a menu for takeout. Steve asked us to please be patient as he was very busy and he could take approx 15-20 mins to make it to the room. No problem. After about 15 minutes we decided to just go down to talk to him. He was just finishing up with a guest and turned the corner to go to our room. Robin (off duty now) told him to drop everything because 2 Japanese tourists arrived. Steve told him "This guest has been waiting 20 mins for help so they come first." Robin's response was "These Japanese tourists are a priority, help them first."

Now I think it is only fair that someone who has been waiting for 20 minutes should be helped BEFORE someone who just arrived. Maybe I have it backwards.

Other than Robin, everything during our stay was great. The staff, hotel, location and overall feel of the hotel was superb. This hotel should get higher ratings on this site!

“Watch out for extra charges”

Banff Park Lodge Resort and Conference Centre

28 Jun 2007

Booked a night at the BPLRCC, after an amazing drive down the Columbia Icefields highway from Jasper. Decent "motel" quality but could have been cleaner and the greenish flourescent lightbulbs were really horrible. No chairs on the balcony. Main complaint is that they charge for things they don't put on the website or tourist literature and some of which they don't tell you about until you check out. Parking- $7.50. Wi-fi - $10.00 (!!!) Local phone calls. No fridge, no microwave, no breakfast; surly staff. No way is it worth the money.

“Clean Room, Courteous Staff and Excellent Location”

Banff Park Lodge Resort and Conference Centre

We just came back from a 5 night bed and buffet breakfast stay at the BPL. After reading some of the mixed reviews, we were concerned since we would be staying for 5 days. However, we decided to give this hotel a try anyways and we were very happy with our decision.

The downtown location of the hotel was great-close to all of the shops and restaurants and very scenic as we were minutes from the Bow River.

We had asked for a quiet room and they had booked us on the 3rd floor on the side of the hospital.

Our rooms were cleaned thoroughly everyday and the housekeeping staff were very friendly. The hotel staff were very helpful and approachable.

We were suprised and happy to find that our Standard room had two sinks (very rare in most hotels) , one in the bathroom and one in the foyer, which allowed the two of us to get going fast and off to bed early.

The only complaint I would have was that the breakfast buffet hot foods were usually room temperature. However, there was a good selection of breakfast foods available and the servers were friendly.

A fridge in the room would have also been very practical.

Overall, we had a great experience here and we would definitely come back to the BPL in the future!

“Great Place”

Banff Park Lodge Resort and Conference Centre

Not sure why this place has low review scores. I stayed for 3 nights in August 06.

Excellent Location. Just a 2 min walk to the middle of town. On the street that runs parallel to the main street. Close to Restaurants, close to convenience store , close to Brewster Bus Terminal (5 min walk) a very quite location.

The room I stayed in was very large and well appointed very clean. Had a King Bed, 3 seater lounge, dining table, 2 basins, lots of storage and still had plenty of room left.

The Hotel had 2 internet terminals which were not cheap but I never had to wait to use them.

The Restaurant was very nice. Only had Breakfast buffet in there but a great selection. Had lovely views from the Restaurant I think its hard to get a bad view anywhere in Banff. I was travelling alone so ate breakfast alone and the staff made an effort to chat to me about my travels. Overall the service was excellent

The only thing that was really missing and was not that important was a hairdryer. No minibar either.
