We stayed there for 5 nights over two stays during a two week break.
The first time we were given a tired horrible cave like room that was almost impossible to find, and had no hot water. This for 579 dollars a night! It was annoying as it was clearly similar to busy restaurants who give you the worst table they can get away with and wait for you to complain - with jet lag you just don't need that!
I complained the next morning and we were moved without fuss to a much better room with a bit of a view. Beware - there are big differences in the quality of rooms at this hotel and you really do have to pay a lot to get anything decent. Deluxe does not mean deluxe! Make sure you ask for a renovated room.
We later stayed in an Exec suite with a view - lovely room but again even higher price - $890.
That being said - the service at this hotel is really excellent ( except out on the bar patio which was understaffed), the rooms ( if you are careful) are lovely and the food is great. Breakfast in particular is good value. Its very busy though so you have to book for dinner.
I normally dislike high end hotels as they tend to leave you feeling ripped off, but it's actually done really well here with a lot of charm. There is probably no where better in Banff if you can afford it.
