Wife and I took a road trip to Banff in August. Banff was an amazingly beautiful destination. We chose Hidden Ridge Resort for our lodging, mostly due to the reviews from Trip Advisor. The accommodations at the resort are very nice, and we had a great stay. Of note, the resort has accommodations for variable sized groups, from a couple needing 1 bed up larger groups with several beds. I can only comment on our single bed accommodation, though I sensed that the other accommodations would be on par with ours.
Our "room", was actually more like a small apartment. It had a full living room with a couch, fireplace, dining table, kitchen (stove, microwave, fridge, sink, and even small dishwasher!). There was a separate bedroom and bathroom (washroom in Canada.....), and an open closet. The bed was very comfortable, and the separate living area was lovely. The kitchenette was great. If you didn’t want to spend tons of money dinning in Banff, using the kitchen would be a great idea. We didn't. The bathroom was large and clean. Overall, a very comfortable accommadation.
We had only two issues. First, there was a lack of storage space for our clothes and luggage. A dresser would have been nice. Second, we were on the bottom floor of our "lodge", and our upstairs neighbors were a bit loud when walking around on the wood floors. We were not sure if this was entirely the fault of those staying above us or not. Nevertheless, if I were to stay here again, I would ask for a top floor if available.
The resort is located just outside downtown Banff, up Tunnel Mountain. A short 15-20min walk from the resort will put you in downtown for shopping or food. We did see a black bear on the road, so be mindful! The views are very nice, as they are everywhere in Banff. The resort itself is very aesthetically pleasing. All of the "lodges" are typical log cabin style. The grounds have a community bbq area for use. The pool and hot tub were quite neat, as they overlooked the valley below and mountains. The staff are friendly and accommodating. They helped us arrange a few activities in Banff and gave us information on sightseeing.
Overall this was a great place to stay while in Banff, and I would recommend it to others!
