I have just got back from a 10 night stay at the Homestead Inn. Perfect place for a ski holiday. Big rooms, plenty of hot water and heat, very clean and tidy. Towels and beds changed daily. Right in the heart of Banff - lots of the other hotels are on the way out of town and can be a bit of a trek. Ladies at the desk couldnt have been more helpful answering our many questions!

Ski bus picks you up right outside for all resorts and Melissa's right next door is great for breakfast and apres ski beers!

We stayed here for 2 nights in September. The motel-style room was on the 2nd floor and there's no elevator, but that wasn't a big deal. The room was rather dated and worn, but large and clean and maintained, and for the price I paid I haven't any complaints. The room faced the main street and was a little noisy at night, but things eventually quieted down before it got too late. The woman behind the front desk (owner? manager?) was very friendly and had lots of suggestions about places to go and restaurants to try. The motel is located just outside of downtown but within walking distance of the stores and restaurants. Parking is in back of the building. We didn't spend much time in the room, it was basically just a place to sleep while we were out enjoying the sights of Banff, and for that it was perfect. I would recommend this motel to others.

Hotel is really a motel. It is central and clean but basic. Kept awake all night by people moving around in the room above-sound insulation was extremely poor. Front door was right on car park and people banged on the door during the night. Felt a bit vulnerable. Banff is lovely but very touristy and expensive. Melissas mistake next door was good for breakfast

We were travelling through the Canadian Rockies and the US in the height of summer.
When we pulled up in Banff I was worried about staying in such a well known touristy place, but my husband was keen to stay the night in Banff having had a long drive that day.
We'd been to most of the hotels in Banff and were put off by the $200 a night tariff or we were met by 'no vacancy' signs.

My husband had spotted the Homestead Inn tucked away behind Melissa's Steak House (top steak, great service). the hotel was delightfully pretty with lovely flowers and hanging baskets masking quite a dated motel look, but time was moving on and we needed somewhere to stay.

There was a very friendly and helpful lady at the desk who let us view the rooms she had to offer before deciding to whether or not to stay, we wanted to have a look at the rooms because she was only charging $99 inc. taxes for the night, and given the cost of other hotels in Banff we thought that there had to be a catch! - there wasn't.

We chose a room on the ground floor, although I would imagine that when the snow is down this might be a bit exposed, but the room had a ski and kit store just as you entered the room, so your not traipsing snow into the main part of the room.

The room itself was really big and very, very clean, but a little dated. We had two queen beds, all the normal hotel stuff including a fridge, a large t.v. with Sky and a coffee maker. The bathroom was exceptional with lots of soft towels. The only down side to the room was that there was no air conditioning, but the room did have a fan and the windows could be opened - this said, how many people need airconditioning when for most of the year the temperature is -30?

The hotel is very close to all the main amenities and about two block's from Banff's main street, which had lots of construction going on when we visited, but this didn't affect our stay or the hotels positioning.

I would definitely recommend and stay at the Homestead again.

Was part of a tour group so didn't choose to stay here. When we arrived the outside is offputting, but room was large, very clean with comfortable beds. The addition of a domestic size fridge was very welcome. Good bathroom with plenty of towels, soaps etc. all changed daily.

No elevators but was pleased to be on the 2nd floor so as to minimise any car parking noise. Ground floor rooms have cars parked just outside their doors, so much better to request a higher floor. Hallways and stairs are not enclosed so could be a problem in the depths of winter.

Overall a good hotel which is situated very close to town and walks alongside the river etc.

Unfortunately Banff is in the middle of major construction to the main street but is sufficiently far away not to disturb anyone at the hotel.
