We stayed at the Banff Caribou Lodge in Jan 2008 for 2 weeks.

This was our first trip to Canada and the staff at the Banff Caribou Lodge could not do enough to help. The staff helped us with tickets, directions and general bookings and it was never too much to ask.

The hotel is situated at the bottom of Banff Avenue and is a 10 minute walk to the shops and main restaurant area (a taxi cost around 6 dollars). There is a free shuttle bus also, but we hired a car, which we personally found more convenient.

The reception area was very welcoming; with a large fire place (which was lovely after walking about in -10 weather). The rooms were very clean and large with 2 queen size beds, hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee facilities. Maid service was everyday.

The restaurant in the hotel provided a great buffet breakfast, which was always busy, but the service was friendly and to a high standard. Highly recommended.

Overall I would recommend the Banff Caribou Lodge and Banff itself to anyone!

We stayed two nights with our twelve-year old in a double queen bed room just a few days before Christmas. Our only complaint was excessive heating which we couldn't control except by opening the window, and there was no wireless access in our room.

The Keg Restaurant downstairs was very good for dinner and breakfast. It was great to be able to park the car underground in a heated car park.

I'd be happy to stay here again.

have just come back from a ten night stay at the Caribou and found it to be an amazing hotel. Kept in the traditional style of the town of Banff, it is a very friendly and comfortable place to stay. The lobby area gives a very good impression when you enter the hotel its large fire place and traditional decor. The rooms are of a good size with a large bathroom. Breakfast in the keg restaurant are excellent and cost approx $15 pp for a buffet with fruit, cereals, breads and cakes, teas and juices and full cooked breakfast. There is also a vast rage of things on a seperate menu to order. The spa is very handy after a long day on the slopes. Some of the treatments are quite pricey but there is no cost to use the large whirlpool, steam room and gym. There are lockers available to store skis etc free of charge and a bus shuttle to take you into the town goes regularly from just outside the hotel(ask at reception for your free pass). Staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly.
My only negatives are the distance from the town-about a 15minute walk, although it can be quite a pleasant walk when its not -25 degrees! And the housekeeping were not very good. The room was clean when we arrived but they failed to keep on top of cleaning. Another negative is the severe lack of storage space and no safe in the rooms. Our room was designed for four people, there was only two of us but even so there was no where near enough room for our clothes- 1 drawer each and a small recess to hang things. The lack of safe also meant that anything valuable had to be handed into reception.
Anyone staying at the hotel should not leave without trying out the keg restaurant! The most incredible steak I have ever tasted!! About $25 pp for a 2 course meal with complimentary warm bread to start. A massive bonus in all the restaurants is the free refills on soft drinks. Also be prepared to pay a 15-20% tip on top of your meal price.
Overall a fantastic hotel I cant wait to go back!!

We did a walk in here and luckly managed to get a room for 4 had a loft room with a large bed and a sofa bed in the lounge. The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable and the bedding gave me quite a few little electric shock but when I asked the front desk to sort it it was done in minutes.
Keg down stairs is very good except the front desk of the keg is over staffed and keep people waiting too long ( the extra staff would be better inside the eating area clearing table rather than standing around chatting, they don't even try to make it look they are working.)
All in all the Caribou Lodge is a nice place to stay
