My husband and I stayed here for two nights while on a road trip through the Canadian Rockies. Of the six places we stayed in Canada, this was our least favorite. Although the hotel met our needs, it was nothing exciting. The room was quite small and nothing special. The desk staff seemed bored and not real helpful. Parking in the back of the hotel is limited but we did find a spot the first night. The second night we parked in the garage below and I found this a little unnerving. The clearance driving into the garage is very low and I was afraid our SUV wouldn't clear. The hotel is located somewhat away from the main part of the town. I would heartily recommend the Greek restaurant next door called El Toro. Excellent food and service, some of the best food we had on our trip! As far as the hotel breakfast goes, I went there to eat the first morning but the choices were very limited and the offerings did not look good. The breakfast sitting area is also unappealing. We decided to eat breakfast in town. The hotel cost $145.00 per night which was much cheaper than most lodging in Banff and one of the reasons I chose this hotel. If you are looking for less expensive accommodation and don't have high expectations, than I would recommend a stay here. If I came to Banff again, I would probably get something outside of town that had more character and was closer to "nature." Banff is really a lovely town in a gorgeous area and well worth a visit.

“Affordable Option for Banff”

I booked the Red Carpet Inn because of the price, location, air conditioning and wireless connections. My first impression was that it was a well-maintained but older motel that would receive about a two-star rating. After three nights, that rating increased to three stars as the staff was very helpful, the location was better than expected, about three blocks to downtown, and the wireless and air worked very well. There was a continental breakfast that had breads, cereal, fruit and beverages. While the dollar is weak in Canada, the Red Carpet Inn was an enjoyable and affordable experience that contributed to the wonderful trip that we had in the Banff area.

A more expensive option might be the new Fox hotel which opened in June. It contains a Chili's which may one of the best restaurant values in Banff.

We spent two nights, June 22 & 23 at this hotel. It was very shabby and the 3 different rooms we tried all had problems. The first room reeked of cigarette smoke (non-smoking room!) and the toilet ran constantly, so we asked to be moved. It was early enough in the afternoon that they still had another room. The second room had problems in the bathroom - the taps weren't secured to the basin and the moulding around the vanity was loose. We could only stay in this room one night and were moved to a third room for our second night. This room opened directly onto the back parking lot, so it was quite noisy and unattractive. All the carpets throughout the hotel were filthy. The breakfast was mediocre. I overheard another couple at the checkout desk complaining about bad smells and noisy patrons in adjoining rooms. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant and tried to accomodate complaints to the best of their ability.

I stayed here based on the reviews. It was an okay hotel at a very good price. It was nice finding a hotel in Banff that wasn't outrageously priced and was still a decent hotel. It's an average hotel and it's nice that it comes with a continental breakfast. The only bad thing was the walls are thin. Luckily the rooms have fans to drown out the noise. Since the hotel was just a place to sleep it was perfect. The people were very nice and it was a great walk into town.

We stayed at the Red Carpet Inn during the period 04&05 May 07. The room was a good size for four people, we were able to comfortably fit four large suitcases plus set up a desk for intenet use. The location was suitable, just a short 10 minute walk into downtown Banff. We experienced no problems with noise and the staff were very helpful and attentive to our needs.

The hotel offers a simple breakfast of muffins, toast, cereal, juice, tea & coffee.
