Stayed here for two nights in Sep 06. Not a bad place, it was clean and there was air con in our room which was very effective as it was very warm when we stayed there. Room contained a coffee maker and a fridge as well as a big TV. Free underground parking but not secure, it's open to all. We paid about £90 a night and the standard is only just about UK Travelodge specifications. The hotel does need a makeover as the decor and fittings date from I would say about 1985. The free breakfast was good and you could have as much as you want, avoid the muffins though, for two days running they were like concrete!

We were originally booked into the high country inn two doors down and because of overbooking we were put into this hotel. The room was comfortable as was the bed, as with previous comments the decor was dated but i would imagine that for the price it was ideally situated 10 mins from main drag shops and bars, Try Wild Bills or the Keg if you visit the food and beer (particularly liked Grasshopper beer) was good. The breakfast room is tiny and limited continental choice. The choice at the high country inn was twice as big with make your own waffles!
The staff were very freindly and the only reason for the 3* rating is the Decor and dated appearance. 30 Minute walk to the Bow fall well worth a visit on foot, we saw 2 elk in the woods wow. Hello to Gordie(perfect pitch?)and Judy our reps .

We booked for 4 nights here in July, The booking was made in March, but we were allocated a very dim & dismal strange shaped room at the back of the hotel, the bathroom was horrible. We complained and were moved to larger room on the front. This was a big mistake because Banff is so busy and noisy at night, we didnt get any sleep . Youngsters were outside talking loudly into the small hours, THEN, we had to contend with the noise of tour-bus engines running outside, waiting to pick passenfger up, from about 6am, this hotel cannot be described as restful by any stretch of the imagination.
As the previous contibutor says, the hotel is decidely old and dated, in fact we would only recommend you stay here if you fancy a nostalga trip back to the early eighties, as it looks as though that was when it was last decorated. The room was large & fairly clean though. The bathroom.was small and not very nice!..we hated using it. We managed to find a wonderful Inn in Canmore with a vacancy, so we moved there after 2 nights, what a difference!! (and it was cheaper) Canmore is a much nicer place to stay than over-commercialsed Banff as well. We stayed at 11 different accomodations in Canada, and this was definately not up to standard. If this is the only place left to stay in Banff, consider carefully!!

we stayed two nights at the red carpet inn. this motel is definitely old and tired and needs to be remodeled. none of the furniture matched and the lamps and picturers had to be thirty years old. the bathroom needed to be remodeled although there was a second sink in the main room but no electric plug as it was covered up buy an amouire. this motel seems to cater to a lot of tour buses. it was suppose to include a continental breakfast but there was no food left half an hour before it was suppose to close. i think there are better places to stay in banff for the money

We stayed here for 3 nights while touring the Rockies. For Banff (high hotel prices) this is a reasonably priced and good value hotel. It is 5 minutes walk from the town centre and within very easy reach of some excellent restauarants.
The rooms are a good size, in good condition and in a clean and well maintained condition.
Banff itself is a lovely town in a delightful setting surrounded by mountains. Overall the Red Carpet is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area - Lake Louise and Lake Moraine are only an hour up the road for example - and there are many other possibillities.
