I have just returned from 5 nights at the Driftwood Inn. I have to agree with the comments which point out that the hotel is clearly a budget hotel and as such you get what you pay for and probably a bit more. The bedroom was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. My radio alarm was broken when I arrived but the maid replaced it promptly. The communal areas are a little past their best, but you have to remember it is a budget hotel! The shared facilities at the Ptarmigan make up for any deficiencies. I ate at the Caramba in the Ptarmigan one night and was impressed with the food and service- this coming from someone who normally finds hotel restaurants to be poor.

I booked this hotel online, and it is certainly a bargain, compared to other options in Banff. It was centrally located and you could use the facilities of the Ptarmagon next door. The wireless internet worked well and the room was small, but clean and tidy. It was a short walk to the restaurants in the middle of town.

Great location in town. There was a lot of noise from the next block which had a house with a lot of young people. They tented to get home early in the AM.

Ate at St. James Gate pub! Nothing really good about the place.

We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable, but a little bit warm for a desk fan. As with previous comments, we felt that an air con unit would have made the two night stay a bit more comfortable, most hotels we stayed in throught our trip had air con. Would request a first floor room next time, as we had a lot of people/car/headlights at ground level!!

We had breakfast in the Ptarmigan Inn next door, where you chek in. Lovely buffet breakfast for a reasonable $13 each.

Only a 2 minute walk from all the lovely shops and restaurants in Banff (Athena Italian restaurant and Tony Romas superb food)

May stay there again, depending on availability and quality of other nearby accomodation.
