The Driftwood is a decent hotel but could use some TLC. It is right near downtown Banff and therefore walking distance to everything. The rooms themselves are fairly nice but we did have a few difficulties with our stay. First, the check-in is in the hotel next door - you will find that with the sign on the hotel door, there is very little parking but you will find a spot if you look. You can use the hotel next doors hot tub, dry & wet saunas but one of the hot tubs was not working and the front desk staff failed to let us know the code to get in so we had to make another trip up. Our ice machine was not working but the one on the 1st floor of Ptarmagan was working great so we went there. Finally, upon entering our room, the door was stuck on the latch, so after a push, the door frame ripped off and the door would not lock. Maintenance came right away and worked all evening on the door, they finally got a make shift door frame so we could lock the door when we slept. I would go back because the location and the cost was one of the lowest in Banff.
