“inexpensive but noisy”

The location is convenient and the price is about the lowest we could
find for Banff after June 1. The guy at the front desk was very personable and helpful. Our room was clean, and the windows look out on a pleasant, northwesty courtyard with tall trees. We were on the second floor, and because there was no fan and no cross ventilation, our room became very warm and stuffy in spite of the very cool weather outdoors (50 degrees F at night and not much higher in the daytime). I would hate to have to stay in a second floor room in warm weather. The blanket had several cigarette burns on it, but the sheets seemed clean. Extra pillows are in the drawers. The worst aspect was the noise from the courtyard. When people on the bottom floors go out their doors, they enter onto the courtyard, and when they talk, everyone in all the other rooms can hear them. One guy had a very loud conversation at 3 a.m. on a cell phone while sitting in the open door to his room, and we heard every laugh, exclamation, and comment. It woke us up and kept us from going back to sleep.
There was no fan in the room to cover up the noise. Big drawback.

Stayed there on May 21, 07, pd $85 + GST. Hard to find a place to stay below $100 except hostels. Very clean, very quiet (no-noise-&-no-check-in after 11 pm policy). Nice forestry area right by the parking lot, nice patio. No internet service.

Very bare hotel, mattress too soft, sloppy coffee machine. First hotel if you enter through the Banff Ave. from HWY 1. Good pick if you wanna stay away from the crowd like us. Will stay here again if going to Banff - for the quietness, away from the crowd, and affordable rate. Lastly, staff was very helpful.

We stayed at Bumpers for two nights in Sept 2006. Our room was very bare with no pictures on the walls to brighten the place up a little. The style was also a little dated and tired but it was clean, with a large bathroom and as a definite plus it was inexpensive for Banff. Located away from the main town centre it was quiet. There was a pleasant central garden / patio area although we didn't use it as it was too cold! Bumpers Steakhouse is right next door and we had a tasty meal there – be prepared to wait it's very popular and rightly so. We would stay here again.

We have stayed at Bumpers many times throughout the years. The price is very reasonable for being in Banff. No, it's not new or all that modern. But, it is clean and comfortable. The centre courtyard is a very nice touch and we love sitting there during the evening playing cards. We have never had a problem with noisy people sitting there late in the evening. If we did, I think one call to the front desk would solve the matter. The lady who works the front desk during the day (Linda) is very friendly and helpful. The fact it is located beside Bumper's Beef House is a bonus since you don't have to go far for a great meal! All you can eat salad bar is great! And, the prime rib is fantastic!

Complaints about Bumper's surprises me. What do people expect? As others have stated, you don't go to Banff to spend time in your room. If you want something affordable and comfortable, stay at Bumper's.

We were travelling in May and hit the off season rates. Easy to find, staff very friendly. Rooms were nice, finished in pine. No air conditioning though, so had to have windows open and there were some noisy guests in the courtyard. We definately recommend Bumpers to the budget minded traveller.
