I recently attended a conference here in mid-October. Previous to this event, I have always stayed at the Banff Springs hotel or one of the other hotels near downtown. What a pleasant surprise this was! The rooms are quiet, very well appointed, have beautiful views and comfortable beds. The facilities are superior. The health club, which is free to guests, as large, well-equiped and well-staffed. I got to do my workouts easily either in the early morning or the late evenings, although the facilities do close by 10:00 pm. It is an easy walk down to the main street for nightlife and restaurants, although the food that we had at the conference cafeteria was very, very good. Parking became tight in mid-week during the daytime, which is surprising, given the amount of acreage the centre has available. For a conference, this venue was perfect. Were I here on a skiing vacation, i think I would choose another hotel, because I like to sit in an open-air spa a night after a hard day of skiing, and it might be nicer to not have to walk up the hill after dinner.
