“Amazing Hotel”

Fox Hotel & Suites

We were visiting friends in Calgary who took us to Banff for the day. We loved the place and rather than cram everything into a few hours decided to stay overnight. We popped into a number of hotels looking for something a bit special, nothing really jumped out at us and most of the hotels we looked at were pretty dated. The Fox was the last hotel we tried and from pulling up outside it was impressive. The manager on the front desk was extremely helpful and explained the different rooms in detail, I appreciated the fact that when it came to prices he wrote each down on a slip of paper and left us to decide. We opted for a premium loft suite and were happy with what we saw. The view from the balcony was lovely and although the living space was quite small it had everything we needed. It did feel quite luxurious and the hot spring in the bottom of the hotel was fantastic. I can only imagine what it would be like in the snow. The breakfast was basic but had everything we needed. This hotel would be worth a 2nd visit!

“Didn't rate the standard rooms in the Fox”

Fox Hotel & Suites

Stayed at the Fox for 4 nights after seeing good reviews in TA.

Location and general facilities of the hotel are good - buffet breakfast is very good with excellent service by attentive staff.

The hotel is designed with about half of the rooms on the 2 lower floors looking into a central courtyard area (seems strange when hotel is surrounded by so much stunning scenery).

The standard room that we had was gloomy with no view - apart from a wall about 20 feet away - and there was no privacy as there was a walkway in front of the window. Although we had requested one large bed (only two of us) we were allocated one with 2 double beds which left little space for moving around easily. There was only 1 chair provided. Essentially the rooms are not large enough to accommodate 2 double beds. We were offered an upgrade but this was quite expensive.

I would not stay here again in the same room.

“Fabulous Accomodations in Banff”

Fox Hotel & Suites

For the Banff portion of our trip to Banff and Jasper National Parks, we stayed at the Fox Hotel and Suites. We selected this hotel after reading other reviews on Tripadvisor. Our travel agent at Liberty Travel in NYC told us that they have a partnership with this hotel, so we got really good rates.

When we arrived at this hotel on a Tuesday, we were offered by the front desk an upgrade to one of their best suites for a small fee per night. The front desk person was persuasive without being pushy...definitely a plus! Therefore, we accepted the offer. Well, when we entered the room, we were very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The bedroom and bathroom was located in the loft area which overlooks the living room with a balcony. The living room also had a small kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, and small table and chairs. The kitchenette also had a microwave and coffee-maker. The amenities are really quite good. We found the room to be immaculate. Flat-screen TVs in the living room and bedroom! We wondered what our standard room would've been like.

We were given vouchers for a continental breakfast. The breakfast offerings were fair. We found the pastries okay. They didn't have that freshly right out of the oven taste, but they were fine. The service was very good. However, since it was basically free, it really wasn't so bad.

We parked our rental in the garage underneath the hotel. It's good that we came during the shoulder season when it wasn't so crowded because it can be a tight squeeze with all the pillars down there, if you happen to have an SUV, which we did. Otherwise, it was great! I would suggest some signs that would make it easier to find the elevator...we walked around and went through a door marked "exit" and realized that it led to the elevator. Perhaps something other than "exit" would be more informative.

We highly recommend this hotel. It is not down in the center of town, but it was a very pleasant short walk into the center. We definitely will stay at this hotel whenever we visit Banff.

“Great accommodation on the edge of town”

We were only staying the one night in Banff but we picked the Fox based on the reviews here and we weren't disappointed. It's not the cheapest place to stay but the quality accommodation and service was superb.

The hotel is situated about a 5-10 minute walk from the main centre of town so it's away from all the hustle and bustle but still within a good distance for those without transport.

Sadly when we were in Banff the weather wasn't the best. We'd had fabulous weather throughout our stay in the Rockies but when we were in Banff it rained a bit. Still, it didn't spoil our experience at all.

We were greeted warmly when we checked in and as it was part of our first wedding anniversary trip we were told that we could upgrade to a 'loft suite' for a small charge of something like $20 which is nothing so we gladly accepted.

Our suite was on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the road through Banff and the mountains as a backdrop. The bedroom was in the loft and has a flat screen tv on the wall - aswell as having a flat screen tv in the lounge! There was a small kitchen area too which was well equipped.

The public areas at the hotel are warm, welcoming and spacious. The pool area is an underground cavern with a hole in the ceiling which is exposed to the elements - a cool touch!

If I was staying in Banff I would definitely stay here.

The only (smal) complaint I have about the hotel is that there is only 1 lift which for 160+ rooms doesn't seem right. On a few occasions we had to wait quite a long time for an elevator.

    • Liked — The airyness and space of the loft suite
    • Disliked — The fact the hotel only has one lift to service a lot of rooms

We stayed 3 nights at the Fox. We were upgraded to the loft suite on the fourth floor for $50 more / night. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Our room was very spacious. The location is very central to everything, as most are in Banff. It included continental breakfast, nothing great though.
