“Peaceful and Pretty”

Baker Creek Chalets

This was our first time at Baker Creek in winter. The place is beautiful covered in snow with ice sculptures in front. The only thing missing was sitting next to the running creek - we'll have to return in the summer for that.
We stayed in one of the older 2 bedroom cabins with a double bed in one room and 2 singles in the other. The beds were comfy and warm with nice duvets. The bathroom has a full tub. The sitting area has a picnic style table with a bench and 2 chairs, a comfy to sit in sofa bed, a chair and fireplace. The end table is a checkerboard with a book exchange underneath. (There are more books and games in the Office building if you want them.) The kitchen is small but well equipped with a 3 burner stove, small oven with only one rack ( we had to borrow another one), fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, tea pot, coffee pot (with coffee, sugar, creamer, tea), frying pan, 2 pots, a pasta pot with strainer, everything needed to do dishes (only one drying cloth), dishes, glasses, wine glasses, cutlery. it was pretty easy to prepare and fix food here.
Our party of 12 ate at the Bistro one night - what a treat. The meals were not only tasty but plentiful and the prices were not bad from about $18 to $26. Appetizers we ordered were Ceasar salad and the brie with pecan crust. We ordered lots of different dishes from lobster pyrogies, rabbit, rib eyes, bison steak, cornish game hen, salmon, scallops and shrimp - can't remember what everyone ordered but we all agreed the food was wonderful. I can't comment on the desserts as we were all too full to try them. The food was great and so was the service.

Baker Creek was booked solid this weekend so when our hot water tank tanked we couldn't be moved. The staff handled our problem so well making the facilities at the gym (showers, steam room) open to us when needed and the tank was replaced the next afternoon. We were very impressed with the friendly professional attitude of everone we encountered from owners and staff to the kitty in a basket at the front desk.
I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet retreat away from phones and television. There is wireless internet if needed but we could not get cell phone service. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.
We will be back and will send all of our friends who need to get away from it all to a romantic yet family friendly place.

This place is really magical - a true experience of Canadian log cabin life, with a little luxury! The rooms are really well appointed, cosy and clean. The balconies over look the river and garden and are a great place to spend an evening. Whilst not located in the town centre, it's still close enough and you get a real feel for the outdoor life here.

I chose Baker Creek for the location and other reviews that I read on TripAdvisor. It was better than expected. This was my first trip to the Canadian Rockies and I had a great experience. Baker Creek is in a great location off the beaten track yet not too far from Lake Louise skiing or the nightlife and shopping of Banff. The staff of the hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful. They even have a resident cat which I find as a plus being an animal lover. I had several meals at the Chalet's Bistro and was never disappointed. I paid a little more than I initially planned in order to book this place, but I have absolutely no regrets. It was clean, quaint, and a perfect home away from home.

We stayed at Baker Creek over Thanksgiving weekend. Our one bedroom loft cabin (cabin number 2) was really lovely. Very cosy, well equipped and with a nice view out towards the creek, we had a couple of great fires both in the cabin in the wood burning stove and outside in the fire pits where my husband introduced my neice and nephew to toasted marshmallows.

My sister and her husband had been staying at Chateau Lake Louise but moved to Baker Creek for their last night after seeing our chalet and their 5 and 6 year old loved it. Lots of room for kids to run around and explore outside, much better than a hotel room!

We also thought the food in the bistro was absolutely excellent. However their chef has now moved onto a restaurant in Canmore, so I have no idea if they have kept the extremely high standard of food.

Some of the reviews mention the train noise, but i think you'll find it difficult to escape in the Rockies and it is quite atmospheric!

We'll definitely be back!

“Fabulous!”

We arrived at Baker Creek having prebooked a room for 3 nights by email and telephone. On our arrival, Shannon had no record of our booking. She immediately upgraded us to a chalet - but just for 2 nights which suited us as we needed to be nearer to Calgary and had misjudged the distance. Shannon was extremely professional and extremely nice. The chalet was gorgeous - no. 1 facing the Creek. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and we loved the wood burning stove as we have one at home in the UK. All the staff we spoke to were courteous and friendly, and very helpful. We didn't sample the restaurant. We were very sad to leave, and we would highly recommend Baker Creek as a place to chill out, go for wonderful walks, see wildlife (sadly not a Moose) - especially Elk - and it is also extremely romantic. Hope we can return someday.
