I spent three nights at this airport hotel, and frankly I wished I had stayed downtown Calgary. The hotel is fairly new so the facility is quite nice, lobby, pool, work-out room, guest room,etc. The free internet, breakfast and evening munchies (no drinks, wine or beer) were a plus. But the hotel lacks a personality, the only restaurant near the facility is a McDonalds and the hotel shuttle will not drop guest at the real restaurants three blocks away. So if you have a car, this place is fine...just a little flat. Without a car forget it!

I stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Calgary one night for a business trip and I really enjoyed my stay. The staff is really nice and helpful and gives a great service. The 1-bed suite was a nice size and everything in it was very clean and like new. Very comfortable bed too! You have restaurants and shopping malls within walking distance (if you don’t have a car like I did) and you have Tim Horton (coffee & donut) shop next door, which was nice since I woke up too late to catch the complementary breakfast at the hotel… The drive to the airport is easy and about 15 minutes. They also have a free shuttle service, which was great! I highly recommend it; I know this is now “my hotel” in Calgary…

This was the second time I stayed in Staybridge Suites, the first time was in Toronto. It is up to my expectation. Spacious 2-bedroom suites with 2 bathrooms, excellent for family or couples who wanted to stay in one flat than in seperate hotel rooms who needed to knock or phone next doors. Everytime I travel, I would certainly search whether there was a staybridge Suites in that city before I consider other hotels. The staff there were also execellent. One asked me whether there was any problem in my room when I went down to check my email after checking in. I told him that the garbage inside the kitchen left by the previous occupant was not clear, he immediately told me that he would follow up and when I went back to the room, the garbage was clear.

I would definitely stayed there or its chained hotel in my next travel.

Main reason we picked this hotel was it is a 5 minute walk to our Calgary office. Rooms are large with kitchenette and lots of kitchen/dining appliances. Full-size ref too. Soaker tub (took me 15 mins to figure out how to get the shower working though). Good work table with internet port. Bed even has pillow top matresses. Has sofabed as well and coffee table. Free light breakfast (they even offer a brown-bag take-away!) with all sorts of drinks. Complimentary light early evening meals on 3 days a week consisting of veggie mix, drinks, chips. Really large exercise room, pool, hot tub, laundry. Had to shorten stay by a night and was no problem and no fees - quite flexible.

Since hotel is brand new, staff seem to be inexperienced, however friendly. They mixed up a couple of credit card payments although was corrected eventually. Outdoor amenities and landscaping still currently ongoing and with a large building construction nearby, the outside gets very dusty during strong winds. This seems to be mostly catering to business travellers - strange why there is a kitchenette as I associate this with families. Unless your work is 5 mins walk away and never go anywhere else, you will need a car to get around as there is nothing nearby except office buildings, a few fast food, and an odd outlet type mall 15 mins walk away. No nearby grocer for to make the kitchenette useful. 15 mins drive to downtown and airport.
