We visit the WEM once a year for a family vacation and still find it to be an excellent family vacation.

Lots of shopping options, water park, amusement park, miniature golf and more. We stay at other hotels in the area as they are much cheaper than the actual WEM Hotel.

We find the water park to be as good as anything we have visited in the U.S. and the amusement park is under some renos but we still found lots of the rides to be open (enough to keep a five year old happy for a day).

They were filming the movie while we were there as well but we stayed out of their way and they stayed out of our way. Don't skip the mall just because of a temp problem.

Your cheapest bet is to stay at a hotel that offers a package so you can use the water park, etc for free. There are lots of these in Edmonton.

I would definitely recommend the mall.

This is our second visit to West Edmonton Mall and probably the last. We booked rooms at the fantasyland hotel 2 days prior to arriving, but we were not told that the amusement park and waterpark would be closed for hollywood to film a movie. Trying to get answers from hotel staff on why we were not informed was impossible. I Found that the hotel staff was rude and the only way i could find out when the waterpark was reopening was from a maintenance worker. The movie crews that are working there are EXTREMELY RUDE they act as if they own the place and will not move for anyone. Do not expect to do anything in the mall with out first inquiring if it will be closed due to filming. The amusement park was filthy, they are doing reno's for a new roller coaster. The rides are closed and you spend more time running around trying to find which one is open. I DO NOT reccomend West Edmonton Mall to anyone, save your money and go somewhere nice!!!

I finally got a chance to go to the "Great Mall" WEM !!!....yeah right.
I was disapointed with WEM and don't think I would ever visit again.
The stores were are all the same as any other mall in Canada, only a handful of specialty shops were available. The signage was horrible and difficult to find a clean bathroom and one that offered a baby changing table.
Paying $5.00 for a stroller and getting back $1.00 was a rip off and trying to find a place to get one was difficult.
There should be strollers/ carts available at most entrances but not this place.
Most of the "Attractions" were not running, Galaxyland's idea of running a smoothly operated amuzement park was to have ONE ride operator for every 2-3 rides. It was a zoo inside there and trying to find out where to stand in line for a ride was confusing.
Sea Caverns was a WASTE of money I will never be sucked into paying $14.00 for something I can stand on upper levels and watch for free. The aquarium...if you would call it that was a joke and about the size of my livingroom. Sharks, penguins and some fish along with a lizard is what we paid $14.00 to see.
Mini Golf and the waterpark was the only thing my whole family could enjoy.
Even with the savings on the PST it wasn't enough to make me walk out of that place with my hands full and I love to shop.
I was very disapointed with WEM, it needs serious upgrading, more directories, attractions and store selection. I don't believe we would ever make WEM a place to see again.
Other than that Edmonton it's self was very nice and we enjoyed the other attrations.

I Live In Edmonton And I do Agree with some other Review's. Yes This Mall does Does Need a Major Renovation Job. The Waterpark Is Renovated But there are some Slides There But the Slides are well Mantanied. I don't see any Crakes in them. There are some New rides in Galaxyland But a New Marry go Round would be Nice. It's Ageing. And new Kids Rides too would be Nice. They could Just Repaint them or Something. But I do see Matainace workers Mantaning the Rides in there Sometimes. The Main Mall Still Needs To be Renovated. The food court By Galaxyland Is Renovated but the One by the Lake Still Needs a Major Renovation Job. It is so Dark and It's Ageing. Yes there are No Couches or Sofa's. But in my Movie Theatre where I work at West Edmonton mall at Silver City Fell free to Sit on our Sofa's. There the Only ones you will Get. My Area is Not that Old. It opened in 1999. So I work in the New Phase. We just Replaced our Carpet. The new one is so Cool. You have to See it and In in the Cinamas were Just Getting them In now. We serve Coca Cola In my workplace at Silver City. West Ed. Mall. I do Agree I wish there were More Cool or Unique Shops But we Do Get Rockey Mountain Christmas Store and the Chocolate Factory. Same name. We do Get Sport Card Stores and there is a Disney Store That Just Opened. If you Look at Some Bothes in the Middle of the Mall they Do have a Little of Unique stuff. Chek out the Remote Contorl Cars. There really Neat. Try out the Glow Mini Golf in Blacklight. It's cool. The Main Mall In some area's is so Dark and the Floor is Cracking in some Area's This mall does need Matinace Badley. I wisn there were More gift Shops. But In lots of Areas it Just Clothing Store after Clothing store. I hope soon This Mall get's is Renovation Job Done. This Mall has To clean up there Act. The owner's that own that Mall. But the Restrooms are Renovated in Lot's of area's. There Nicer now. The Man made Lake There is a Sea Lion Show And There Well looked After. The Subs are No Longer in Use in the Lake. They have done Nothing to the Subs. They Just Sit there in the Middle of the Lake. Last thing for other Shopping Centres in Edmonton Concider Southgate Shopping Centre. It's Renovated. Edmonton City Centre. Or Kingsway Garden Mall. It's Not Bad. Or Londondarry Mall. All those Shopping Centres Have Renovated and They do Have some Couches in them and there 100x Nicer and Better. I haven't Been To Mall of America But I heard that Mall Was Really cool and Had a Lot more Class to It.
