The Mayfield Inn & Suites has a convention centre, trade show space and 2 hotel towers on its property, but these are not connected in any 'organic' way - rather, it's as if the builders added each piece on before thinking how it would relate to the others. The entire accomodation area is in need of renovating and updating, with the elevators creaking and wheezing, stained carpets and unimaginative decor. Climate control harks back to the 1970's, room power connections are inaddequate for today's busness traveller. There is a 'wired' internet connection in the rooms in the north tower.
Guest rooms in other areas seem almost an afterthought, tucked away down what look like maintenance hallways. The Convention Centre looks from outside like an old warehouse that has been attached by a corridor across the parking lot. The Dinner Theatre is a major attraction, but signage to it from wihtin the hotel is questionable.
Food service was good and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. This hotel shows so much potential, but it will take a significant investment of time, money and other resources to bring this aging landmark in Edmonton's west end back to prominence.
