This lodge was one of the hotels we stayed at on an APT tour of Canada and Alaska. Our room was upstairs in a lodge and we had our own balcony in he front with chairs and a table to relax.
The room was very comfortable and in a lovely setting. We walked along the lake before dinner and it was so quiet and peaceful. Had dinner in the Meadows Restaurant and the food was delicious. Went for a walk after dinner and saw 2 elk near one of the chalets. Had a lovely breakfast in the main lodge and on our way back to the chalet saw another elk right in our front garden. Can't comment on the cost of the meals as they were included in the price of our tour. This was a lovely place and I wish we had more time to spend there.

“OK but a little disappointed”

We stayed at the Jasper Park Lodge as part of a Rocky Mountaineer tour and although overall found the hotel above average, we were disappointed in some respects.

We stayed in a cabin some way from the main lodge and therefore felt a little isolated, even though there were cabins around us. In fact, our cabin was semi-detached and upon arrival it was very clear that the walls were extremely thin. A woman in the adjoining cabin was making a telephone call and I could hear every word; it was almost as if she were in the next room, which I guess in theory she was!

We found the room very small, so much so that I walked into the bedframe a couple of times - ouch that hurt!

The room was well equipped considering its size, but the bathroom was quite small. We were glad to be spending only one night there.

The grounds are wonderful and spacious and when we arrived there were several elk in the grounds. Highlight of our stay was spotting an elk calf sitting against our cabin.

The staff was efficient and very helpful - a definite plus. The hotel offers a golf-kart shuttle from the main lodge to individual cabins, which was very useful when you consider how far spread the premises are.

We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food.

I wouldn't say that we wouldn't stay there again but I'd certainly look around for somewhere cheaper.

“Doubting after my last visit”

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

22 Jun 2008

I have been to this resort a few times. But the last time I'm doubting a little bit.

The location is perfect!! I mean sitting there with a good glass of white wine in the middel of the Rockies at the lake. Perfect!!

Rooms are okay, but to open the doors is with a old fashioned system and I heard and saw that lots of people have problems with opening their doors.

From the outside the cabins could use some new painting.

I was picked up by their van from the station. And the van was terrible. Outside not clean. Inside dirty and old. And you had to pay CA$5 since a few weeks.

The car is not the important thing, but it's the first impression people get from the resort. And that shoud be good.

Service is perfect! Main lodge is perfect. Food is perfect!

The other thing is that when I arrived I was sitting on the veranda at the bar. Two local boys where sitting there, drinking and shouting. No one of the staff said something. They even got more alcohol from the servers. Everybody was enjoyed by that, but no action. Only a few hours later they were told to leave the property. There was also a group which brought their own meals and started to display everything there. Again, no reaction from the staff, untill much later.

Again, I love the Fairmonts, but I got the impression that there is a lack of management now and they have to be carefull.

“Worst hotel of our 3 week trip”

During May and June 2008 my wife and I organised a 3 week whistle-stop journey around some major Canadian centres. Most of our hotels were much less expensive than the Fairmont Park Lodge, but we decided to book this for some extra "care & attention" mid-way during our journey. We were both looking forward to a 2-night stay.

You may gather from the review title that we did not get this. We had to ask to be moved from our first lodge allocated - this was next to some sort of service area which, upon our arrival, had a used room service tray outside it (the squirrels seemed happy, we less so), by the litter bins, & backing onto what looked to be the coach park. Small & tired (the room, not the squirrel).

An hour and a half later, and following a vist from a hotel employee to discuss "our issues" we were moved - this time to a chalet whose back door backed onto the main reception approach road - so we were awoken the following morning to the sound of coach "reversing" audible warning signals. Later that same day while relaxing before our evening meal we could clearly hear the next door chalet's television, and (worse!) their bathroom plumbing.

Nobody followed up on our move to confirm we were happy. To date, despite including our contact details on our feedback form, the hotel has not contacted us regarding our dissatisfaction.

To provide a balanced review - the setting of this resort is terrific, and the evening dining experience, whilst expensive, was both delicious and attentive, particular thanks to our waiter, Mike, in the Mooses Nook.

We paid £220 per night, room only (for both of us). We do not believe this represents value for money, and therefore cannot recommend this resort to others.

We drove from Calgary to Fairmont Jasper, and the drive was incredible and top it all was this beautiful hotel.

the staff upgraded my wife and i to a lake facing room and the view was just fabulous.

the fairmont is a bit expensive, but well worth the locations provided

service is good, but not 24 hours and none of the restaurants are open 24 hours....something which needs to be worked upon.

to sum up, i like this hotel.
