My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nanaimo. The town was great, loved the peaceful laid back atmosphere and above all, the stay we had at the Buccaneer Inn. Even though we had to switch rooms due to scheduling conflicts, we liked both rooms. Very clean, quiet, and very comfortable beds.

Looking forward to our next stay in Nanaimo and the Buccaneer Inn!

We booked the Buccaneer as a central location on the island when visiting relatives. We received a very warm welcome from the friendly hosts, who told us the best places to dine at and visit. We are only sorry that we didn't have time to see them all. The room was spotlessly clean and we would recommend the Buccaneer without hesitation. The lovely setting was a bonus!

Our Lonely Planet BC book said the Bucanneer was spick and span and how right they were. The inside and outside of the motel are spotless. Not a thing out of place anywhere.

Lonely Planet also said how friendly and helpful the owners are. Right again. They provided us with loads of tips on restaurants, sights, daytrips and even gave us pointers on which border crossing to use to get to Seattle quickest.

The other reviews on Trip Advisor for the Buccaneer echo our feelings. The Buccaneer is run how a motel, or any accommodation for that matter, should be run. Genuine, friendly service, great amenities (loved the bed with the duvet!), well decorated, spotless rooms in a great location and value for money.

The Buccaneer Inn has an excellent location which is right across the street from several resturants/pubs, a sea kayak rental business (Alberni Outpost), and a dive/snorkel charter (Ocean Explorers). We left our car parked for 2 days at the motel and then spent our days sea kayaking around Newcastle Island, swimming from Newcastle Island, and snorkeling with the "Snorkel with the Seals" charter offered by Ocean Explorers. We highly recommend both the "Snorkel with the Seals" charter and sea kayaking around Newcastle Is.

We stayed in a kitchen suite at the Buccaneer. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped including a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and electric kettle. The room was very comfortable, with good ventilation and impeccable cleanliness. Dave and Marlene, the owners, were very helpful with advice about things to do in Nanaimo and restuarant recommendations.

Overall, we would definitely come back to the Buccaneer the next time we are in Nanaimo. We wholeheartedly recommend the Buccanner as a great place to stay.
