Our trip was short and we wanted to see the highlights so we visited Long Beach, Radar Hill and did the Rainforest trail. Although these attractions were recommended at the park entrance information booth, I would not say these are the highlights. Long Beach is famous for surfing but it’s not the prettiest beach. We preferred Chesterman’s because of the more interesting rock formations and great swimming beach. Radar Hill might be a high point but the views are marred by untrimmed vegetation. The forest trail however was a lovely walk through a pristine, old growth rainforest.
One place that was not recommended to us but we spotted it while driving was the
Wickaninnish Beach and Interpretive Centre. This is a “must do” because of the spectacular panoramic views from the café, the displays and the lovely beach. There might be hiking trails here but we did not have time to explore them.
The town of Tofino should not be missed and can be done in a few hours by walking the main drag and visiting the quaint and eclectic shops. An evening dinner at Tough City Sushi will show you how pretty Tofino can be at sunset.
