“Okay, but know the downsides...”

Quality Hotel Downtown

2 Mar 2008
1/1 found this review helpful

Upside:
1) Relatively cheap with their 3 nights for 2 offer.
2) Quiet (at rear of hotel)
3) Oven/grill
4) Free Wi-Fi internet access from room

Downside:
1) The hotel misrepresents itself - there is a prominent picture of a waterfront location/building in the front page of the hotel website at http://www.innatfalsecreek.com/ but it turned out that this is NOT the hotel (or the hotel's location), despite it being the only outside shot, and no other picture on their site to counteract this misleading impression. Instead it is an oldish building on a major road in what seemed a run-down district.
2) The name is Inn at False creek - this would support the waterside location implied from the photo above, but is also not the case. It is not AT False creek, although is relatively near.
3) The first impression of the hotel / room was so different from that implied/imagined from the photos on the hotel website we were minded to check out immediately. The room is (apparently partly refurbished) in a very old fashioned style, and gives a dowdy run-down hotel impression. The kitchen and bathroom fittings were old, scratched and dirty, adding to this impression.
4) Coming from Europe we did not know/expect that the fan unit on the wall was the only source of heat - we thought it was an air conditioner and left it alone(off), especially as the scale just said 1-10 with 10 as cooler. We were VERY cold in the night (I caught a chill/Cold which lasted our whole holiday). When we found out it heated and was the only source of heat, we used it only to find it far too noisy and dry for comfort. There was no temperature setting (Degrees or Fahrenheit) - just the scale from 1 to 10 to experiment with each night. It also never shuts off.

“Great Location”

Quality Hotel Downtown

25 Jan 2008

Hotel is in great location, just across the water from Granville Island. There's also a 7/11 and a little grocery store only one block from the hotel. The rooms were very nice for the price. I paid a little over $300 for a double for 4 nights.

“Good base for seeing Vancouver”

Quality Hotel Downtown

While this hotel is nothing grand it has many plus points - the room was clean and had everything we needed in it (including free wireless internet on your own laptop); it was a very short distance to the waterfront, Granville Island, and near to the main shopping streets. My wife and I walked along the waterfront to Stanley Park (a long walk but worth it). While we only ate in the hotel on one evening, the bar snack food was fine and the staff very friendly. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance although, like all big cities, you can easily find yourself in slightly seedy areas only a short distance away (perhaps that is a plus point to some!).

Our three nights at this hotel were a positive experience and this is a good place to choose as a mid-range hotel.

“A caring Hotel”

Quality Hotel Downtown

I arrived with my wife in late August 2007 on a Travelsphere holiday. My wife was taken seriously ill- the holiday abandoned and I remained at the Quality hotel for 29 days. The staff - room cleaner - barperson - manager - everyone were absolutely brilliant. THEY CARED. After 12 days I was moved into a suite - wife still critically ill - hotel could not have been better. Rooms clean, well serviced, efficient staff. Hotel food is excellent - tasty - brilliant sould, excellent fish and ships ! and chef's salads.
front desk brilliant, esp. Al and Leanne, but unfair to name but 2.

Some of the back roome suffer from eaarly morning 7am) noise, but that linked to a city workers strike (9/07).
arooms - spotless ; linen similar; desk - amazing; lounge - great with its own 'Cheers' type group of locals. who care.l
Would we come back ?- depends upon my wife's frame of mind. Would we stop here - absolutely.

SO LONG AS YOU ARE NORMAL, UNSPOILED AND DONOT EXPECT SOMETHING MORE THAN YOU PAID FOR. - BRILLIANT
VALUE FOR MONEY - FOR MY MONEY -UNACCOUNTABLE.
Vyner mates (UK) - 9/07.

“Good Hotel - Excellent Position”

Quality Hotel Downtown

We stayed at this Hotel as part of a tour organised by Travelsphere. The rooms were tastefully decorated, the bathroom was on the small side but stilll adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a very good position - just a short walk from the water to cross over to Granville Island.
The restaurant in the hotel was excellent. A good all round Hotel ideal for touring the city.
