I have stayed at this Sandman location several times now and it is definatly far superior to the other Sandman Hotel located across from GM Place. We had a nice city view room, which included a separate bedroom, kitchen, two tv's and a balcony. The room was clean and very well appointed, it was not luxurious but very clean and modern looking. The outdoor pool is very nice as well as the spa area. The staff were super friendly and the food at Moxies was great. The location is ideal if you are into Davie St. close to lots of restaurants, bars, and trendy shops. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to Robson St. shopping, and less than a 10 minute walk to English Bay beach. The view from the room was superb and I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice place to stay downtown that is not overly expensive.

I bought an airline vacation package. The hotel's express check-out papers wanted me to sign that I would pay the full hotel bill if the tour operator did not! I had paid in full for the package the month before. Maid service was minimal. Sheets not changed in four nights. Three light bulbs burned out. Coffee not re-stocked. The toilet needed plungering, but the maid ignored that. The heat had to be on 24 hours full blast to get the room warm enough. The elevators still don't work right -- a problem they have had for years. Shower temp did not hold steady. Mattress and pillows were very comfortable. The suite was built to rent as an apartment for one (or two). Lots of closet and storage space.

We booke d here for the first night of our 3 week trip to the area, and the price seemed very reasonable for what we were getting, and it was!

The suite gave us a great view over Stanley Park, the city and the water and the room was clean, compact and bijou.

Probably the only thing we didn't like was the fact that the balcony was very unsafe for children and the door out to the balcony could easily be opened by our 2 year old.

So safety was a bit of an issue here but otherwise the room was great.

The reception was very funky and modern, and the staff helpful.

Moxies was nice, except for the fire alarm!

I stayed (with hubby) in one of the penthouse suites for three nights at the beginning of October. The receptionist was very efficient and we were able to check into our room approx 3 hours early which was really helpful. The room had a great view (24th floor)across the city and the jetted tub was lovely and the full kitchen very handy. The problems we had is that the room smelled very fusty and damp. There was no washing/dryer as advertised on the website, the shower door was broken (although my huband fixed it) and no plug in the bathroom. None of these things were huge problems BUT considering we had paid the top price to stay in supposedly one of the hotels best suites I wasn't overly impressed. The Moxeys grill downstairs was fine for drinks and cocktails but we had food at about 4.30pm on our first day and it was clearly re-heated and also we hadn't finished out starts before the waitress came out with our main and just left it on the table getting cold. We loved Vancouver as a city and I suppose if we'd complained a bit more we could probably have got a room move. However being typical English tourists we don't tend to complain enough!! The location of the hotel is excellent and we walked to Stanley Park, Robson street easily. It was also good fun in the evening :-) If i had a better room i would stay there again.
