My wife and I stayed at this hotel in March 2008 for approximately 10 days. The hygiene at this hotel is dodgy at best. Management will state that it is done daily, but it is not. The rooms are not vacuumed, the bathroom is not cleaned properly (hair in bathtub daily), the kitchen is dusted (not cleaned) after the bathroom … with the same rag, and there were silverfish in the room (kitchen and bathroom).
When confronted with the problems, the General Manager acted very defensively, and promised to investigate ‘if asked nicely’. The General Manager is NOT an asset to this hotel. She has no sense of customer service or people relations. She could use a lot of training.
After her investigation was complete, she gave us a 25% discount for one night and promised to have hygiene restored. Again, out of the goodness of her heart. Following her investigation, ‘gift’, and promise to ensure that the hotel standards of cleanliness would be enforced, there was still hair in the bathtub … on the very same day. Finally, the Housekeeping Manager had to resort to cleaning the room personally, and was embarrassed by the whole situation (very nice and personable lady, by the way, an a REAL ASSET to the hotel).
On the upside, the property is very conveniently located for anyone wishing to be in Downtown Vancouver. As well, the front desk personnel were generally pleasant to deal with and very helpful.
