We stay here every other weekend while watching our daughter play hockey. Roomy suites with a functional kitchenette. Bed is very comfortable and the living room is great for visiting in. Close to all amenities at UBC including public transportation and taxis. It's a long way to the nearest hotel off campus.

Room tip: Avoid room 2007 (and probably 1007 and 3007) as it faces the area where all students on way to and from dorms pass noisily. Third floor rooms are the quietest as there is no one above you.

I was feeling very calm like I was at home. It was at first uncomfortable in that I was in a foreign world, but later I started to develop new adjustments and nounces to live a better life. People were benign to each other and they said hello to me. It was a very solidifying experience in that I was and we were able to exchange good, hearty emotions. So cold like winter like this, it is always good to be around warms..

Very comfortable beds and rooms. Especially the beds and comforters. Appliances work great, supplied utensils also. Good place to stay. Good value for the money. Buses right across the lot if needed. Should be a bit careful in room selection in the summer as I don't see any air conditioning. Better to be on the north side of the building.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in Oct while she was checking out UBC as a possible University to attend in the fall of 2015. I will admit that the location (staying on campus) was good to allow us to quickly get around campus, try out the dining options, attend a tour, and walk to Wreck Beach. The room however was pretty beat up (tears in the sofa, lots of damage to the walls etc) There is no A/C, but in Oct that wasn't an issue. The king size bed was comfy, but the sofa sleeper was old and rickety. Our room overlooked the Courtyard area, so needless to say, I didn't sleep on either Fri or Sat night with the yelling, hooting and hollering of students between midnight and 3 am. Having a kitchenette was handy though, as we bought our own breakfast stuff and used the fridge and toaster for that. All said, the location for our purposes was good, but the noise would prevent me from staying there again. If she ends up at UBC, I'll stay downtown....

Room tip: To avoid the bus terminal noise or the late night party crowd noise, get a room on the back side over the parking lot

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that the noise from the residences nearby caused problems for your stay. We do have rooms facing the east side that are away from potential traffic or people noise as mentioned in your review. We have scheduled renovations and furniture upgrades in the spring. With the upgrade, we are hoping to provide upgraded amenities and a very enjoyable stay for our guests. We hope to welcome you back on your next trip to Vancouver and UBC.

We have stayed in the West Coast Suites twice, both times because I had surgery at UBC hospital. This is not a 5-Star Hotel, but the suites are large, the beds comfortable, the kitchen more than adequate for a 5-7 day stay and the walk to the hospital was only 10 minutes. We also had great success using the Vancouver public transit system. It seems most bus routes lead (with transfers) to UBC. On the downside the front desk staff treat you like University students and don't even seem to know their way around campus. We also had difficulty finding nice restaurants that didn't require either driving or a bus ride.

Room tip: To avoid some of the noise of campus ask for an inside room. We stayed on the 3rd floor during our last visit and opening the windows at night seemed to help cool the room down.
