The check-in staff were less than welcoming, the first room we went to was a Junior Suite. It had a bad smell from the kitchen and the t.v. sat in a cupboard that did not have a swivel base so it faced the sliding glass door, not the bed, nor the loveseat in the sitting area. The only way to watch t.v.would be to stand at the kitchen counter. This was unacceptable to me so we were moved to a one-bedroom for the same price. However checking the website it should have been $40 cheaper. When I questioned the front desk about it, I was advised that because the one bedroom had a 'view' and an optional kitchen it worked out to the same price. I wasn't offered a room without a view, nor to keep the kitchen closed and save $40 so was very ticked off and feeling taken for granted by this but too tired to move yet again. The one bedroom was very cold and lacking furniture. The beds & linens were motel quality, very thin & cheap, rock hard mattress, bad t.v. reception and lacking any sort of warmth at all. The website shows a table and chairs, a plant and a coffee table which were all missing from our room. I asked for the kitchen to stay closed and we ate out, as we'd planned to anyway, so perhaps the table & chairs are kept in there?. The next night we moved for my birthday, to 702 - the Studio Penthouse expecting a large, lovely penthouse suite. What we got was a nice 'small - average' sized hotel room with a larger balcony and a lovely bathroom with 2 person jacuzzi tub. All they show for photos is a 2-bedroom penthouse and it looks massive which I"m sure it is, but this room, by NO means was worth $240! Simply because it is on the top floor, it's called a Penthouse but the floor is shared with a long row of hotel rooms so basically they upgraded their beds & linens and furnishings. Had it not been for the large, lovely bathroom I probably would have walked right out. The fireplace is nice but the room is so small you can't leave it on for very long before you're dying of heat. We felt ROYALLY ripped off with false advertising on their website and less than informative front desk check-in staff. Sure it's a good location but so are a lot of other hotels nearby. I took a risk on a 'no name brand' hotel and I don't think I'll ever do it again unless it has impeccable reviews. Perhaps I had higher expectations because it was my birthday weekend, but why shouldn't I? Whether someone is there for a quick overnight or a weekend celebration the hotel should be up to a comfortable, restful nights' stay for the price they're charging.
