Here's what Ann & Ian's website won't tell you about Garden Room 2: It is very, very clean, has two closets, and a real (full size) hair dryer. I used the whirlpool tub jets to massage the bottoms of my feet after days of museum going, shopping and site seeing - I could also have called for an in-room massage, but opted for the tub instead.

The gourmet breakfasts are off-the-scale elaborate, melt-in-your mouth tasty and generously portioned. We actually skipped lunch after their breakfasts and just enjoyed the local pubs in the evenings.

We researched alot before we booked Abbeymoore Manor. All the good things said about them online are true. We can't wait to be able to get more time off work so we can go back!

    • Disliked — They only serve breakfast until 9:30, but 9:30 isn't really so bad.

We stayed at the Abbeymore for 3 nights in mid-Sept 2007 in the master bedroom. The large room and spacious en-suite were perfect, everything worked worked well, the bed was comfortable and we had a balcony with table and chairs together with a distant sea view.
Our hosts could not have been more charming and helpful. Anne gave us very good recommendations for local restaurants (Cafe Brio, excellent and the Med, great value) and advice on town parking whilst Ian excelled with his whale watching contacts which ensured that we went on a day when the whales were to be seen.
The main course at Breakfast (no choice) differed each day. We thoroughly enjoyed the Eggs Benedict one morning but passed on the Maple Syrup doused presentation the following day. When the guest house is busy Breakfast can involve a wait for a table if the weather doesn't facilitate dining on the terrace.
The location of the guest house is delightful, leafy streets and large houses set back from the road. The town centre is about a half hour walk from the Abbeymore and is a pleasant stroll.
We've ummed and arghed about our marking for this establishment. Ultimately it came down to an issue beyond the control of our hosts. Betwen booking our room and staying at Abbeymore the Canadian dollar hardened by 15% against the pound sterling. This increased our room cost per night from£110 to £127. On a value for money basis, to us, that isn't excellent and this is reflected in our grading.

    • Liked — The rooms and the hosts
    • Disliked — Ultimately, the value for money with the strong C$

Abbeymoore Manor is the reason I prefer to stay in B&B's rather than large hotels. We stayed here for 3 nights in late August and it was the best place we stayed on our entire trip. The house is quite grand and sits in a very pleasant residential district about half and hour's walk (or $10 in a cab!) from downtown. We stayed in the Master Bedroom, a beautifully furnished room with a large terrace and probably the biggest room I have ever stayed in.

Ian and Anne, the innkeepers, have a passion for what they are doing and their mission is to make your stay as comfortable and interesting as possible. Anne's cooking is top class, the breakfasts are wonderfully original and the complimentary snacks and titbits were great. Ian puts most 5 star concierges to shame. Believe me, what he doesn't know about Vancouver Island isn't worth bothering with. If you're looking for an eating place just tell him what style and budget you want and he'll come up with a winner - every time. He's happy to make bookings for just about anything - whale watching(even got them to pick us up and drive us downtown), ferries, restaurants - just ask Ian. He's obviously very proud of his Scottish ancestry so if you're a Scot, as I am, you'll be made especially welcome but Ian and Anne make every guest feel special.

Thanks for a great stay !!

Abbeymoore Manor is one of the BEST B&B's we've ever stayed at. The breakfast was truly gourmet! We stayed in the Master Bedroom and it was VERY spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were delightful, friendly, and very helpful. If we ever return to Victoria we will definitely stay at Abbeymore Manor.
