This motel is only 5 minutes' drive away from Downtown Victoria, which wasn't a problem at all. We stayed one night in a one-bedroom suite that slept up to 6 people. The room was somewhat old, but well kept and clean. It had a small kitchen with fridge, stove and microwave. The only down side is that none of the rooms had air conditioning. I guess for Victoria, that isn't a problem most days, but on the day we were there it was close to 30c and we had to have all the windows and the front door opened to cool it down enough so we could sleep. Other than that, this hotel was a very good value.

The previous reviews are accurate. This is essentially a motel but it is extremely well managed: the rooms are clean; the beds are very comfortable; and the staff are very, very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the room furthest from Douglas Street at the start of June and slept like logs despite an 11-hour flight from London, UK.

The free Internet connection in the lobby helped us weigh up the different whale watching options. Free coffee and water were available in the lobby and the Assistant Manager offered us some free extra cofee filters for our room without prompting once he noticed we liked our beans. For food, there is a KFC and a diner next door if you need something quick. There is also a large mall and department store right across the street, which we used to pick up a few items we had forgotten to pack.

The Pacific Coach Line has a drop-off stop about 30 metres from the motel entrance, which will save you time if you are taking that service to get from Vancouver to Victoria via the ferry. Note that you have to pre-book a pick-up in the reverse direction. Also, the 70 bus back to the ferry block stops one block away although that was a 15-minute hike with heavy bags.

You should definitely consider staying here if you are on a budget and you do not mind the 10 minute drive - or 15 minute bus ride - to the middle of town.

It is obvious that someone cares for this motel and puts a lot of effort into keeping it nice. It's not dead fancybut there are a lot of little touches like free films which make it nice.

The hotel isn't particularly central- which is the only reason we wouldn't use it again- but I would recommend it to people who don'tmind a drive especially those with children.

The Blue Ridge Inn is a great motel in Victoria. It is an L-shaped building set away from the very busy street it is on. The room was clean and comfortable and the beds were very comfortable. We took the basic room with two queen sized beds. The room had a refrigerator, ironing board, and coffee maker. Internet access was provided for free from a single computer in an alcove by the registration desk. In spite of the fact that the motel is on a busy street, the room was quiet at night. There is a swimming pool and sauna in a building in the parking lot. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful for most of the questions I asked; although it was sort of funny that after the manager bragged to me that he knows all the restaurants in Victoria, I asked for a recommendation of a vegetarian restaurant and he was unable to answer. None of the staff had ever tried vegetarian food. Highly recommended.
