The Travellers Inn advertises that it makes Victoria affordable and this is true. The hotel rooms were basic, but clean and comfortable. My room alongside Douglas St. was a bit noisy but tolerable. I would stay there again and recommend it to others seeking a basic hotel.

My family stayed only one night at this inn. I was not very happy about this stay. First, the room is very small. Secondly, there is no shower head in the bathroom and the water just poured down and hit you hard. My daugher was horrified and was screaming when she was taking the shower with me. Thirdly, the room is very stuffy and the ventilation is very old. I just felt that I could not breathe when I woke up at night. Maybe it was just a bad experience for us, but we are going to stay away from this place next time we are in Victoria.

My wife and I stayed at this property over Memorial Day weekend. We got the room at pretty much the last minute, so I guess we should be glad that we did not do much worse.

I agree with the other reviews about the staff. They were very polite and seemed willing to do what they could to make us comfortable. They were always friendly and greeted us with a smile.

After checking in, we were directed up the stairs to our room. There was no elevator and we were very glad that we didn't have more baggage than we did.

Since we were traveling with our baby, we were hoping that the hotel would have a portable crib. Unfortunately they didn't. I know that not all hotels do, but it would have been nice.

The room was clean and tastefully decorated. It was quite small, but partly because we got a room with two beds. I imagine that rooms with one bed have a lot more floor space. The room was also much quieter than one would expect for a hotel in this price range. I slept well and felt rested in the morning.

One problem that we did suffer was that there was no hot water. It was not working Saturday and was still out of service Sunday when we checked out. I hadn't taken a cold shower in some time and I forgot just what a shock it can be. I realize that this was probably out of the ordinary, but what are the odds that it would happen to us? And I can't believe that it was not fixed sooner.

The hotel boasts about their shuttle service, but don't bother. It only comes by once per hour and sometimes even less. And even if you do manage to catch it, you will not be taken to where the main attractions are. You will be taken to another property of this hotel chain that is about 11 blocks away. But that hotel is still quite a distance from the inner harbor attractions.

Since we were traveling with a baby we decided to just take taxis. We also wanted to maximize our time in the city and didn't want to spend all of our time walking or waiting for shuttles. A taxi ride between the inner harbor and the hotel averages about $10. The extra $40 we spent on cabs probably could have got us a hotel where walking really was an option.

I wouldn't go out of my way to stay at this property again. And I would never pay their rack rates. But if you can get it at a deeply discounted rate and you are only looking for a bed and a shower, it may be fine for you.
