My husband and I had planned on staying here as part of our honeymoon in BC but changed our minds when we arrived at the property. Though the staff was very kind and understanding to us and the location itself is more of a very low 3 star hotel, I felt that other honeymooners should be aware of a few things before booking.

First, the property does not advertise that it is a private home or even a bed and breakfast on their website. That was not going to work for us as we had large bags to carry to our room which was not accessible unless we walked through the entire house to get to.

Second, the room was nice but did not have any views unless you walked outside to the patio in front of it and to be honest, it smelled a little moldy in there more than likely because of the hot tub and the sauna located in the room itself.

Third, the parking was not convenient at all. You can't really back out of there unless there are no other cars in the lot itself and the driveway is extremely narrow.

Fourth, the location itself is very nice on top of a hill surrounded by other homes but it is still at least a 20 minute drive to the downtown area which you can easily get around walking.

If you're going to Victoria, I suggest you stay at the Marriott Inner Harbour or any other hotel close to downtown. We ended up there instead and it was wonderful, clean, and convenient!

My husband and I stayed at this resort in late May of this year. We were very dissapointed that both the pool and hot tub were broken for our romantic weekend and we did not find out until we got there, and we were offered no discount because of this. We stayed on the main floor by the breakfast area (Mountainview Room) and it was very noisy, so maybe book an upper floor room. It is a really cool location, incredible view, but the owner needs to put some money into some patio furniture, fix the patio doors, put some flowers in the overgrown planters, put in a gas fireplace we could use, and to keep it cleaner. The windows were too filthy in our room to see out of, as well as the common kitchen area (especially the utensils and glasses and in the drawers). I was not sure our rug had been vacuumed, to be honest, before we checked in. I would return for those changes, and pay accordingly for the view with some true luxury.

I recently spent a long weekend at the Mountainside Luxury Resort. What a wonderful experience. It is a small bed and breakfast with very personal care, thanks to the house manager, Victoria. She ensured every detail of our stay was perfect.

Mountainside is near the top of Mt. Tolmie and the view from my spacious private deck was amazing. I had a 180 degree view of Victoria, the harbor, mountains on one side and hills on the other. The first day I arrived, I spent most of the day lounging on that deck, wine glass in hand, taking in that glorious view, watching the cruise ships come and go in the harbor.

The entire house was clean and quiet. The king-sized bed was so luxurious I never moved once I got in it. It's like sleeping on a cloud. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.

I would, without hesitation, recommend Mountainside Luxury Resort for anyone travelling to Victora for any reason. I would particularly urge anyone wanting a romantic retreat to choose Mountainside. You will never want to leave!

Mountainside is the best place I have ever stayed. The staff are very friendly and strive to make your vacation the best. The hot tub and pool are awesome. They overlook the views of the mountains and the water. You couldn't get a better view.
Breakfast and coffee are always prepared first thing in the morning. You can enjoy a bowl of warm oatmeal to danish or bagels.
The beds are so comfortable, you will never want to leave it. You feel like you are off to dreamland in the clouds. There are nice jaccuzzi tubs in every room for that unwinding relaxation some of us need after a day checking out the sights.
You can bring your own snacks and make yourself a nice lunch to take on a picnic up the hill at the park. The staff are willing to help find anything you are looking for and even willing to map it out for you.
You have internet access for those who still on vacation, can't seem to get away from work. There is also a great board room - complete with a fireplace - for the best meeting place.
I would highly recommend a stay here. I had a wonderful and relaxing time. I will definately be going back. The only thing this place is missing is you....
