There were so many problems with our stay at Mountainside that I started making a list so I would not forget them all! One of the things they promote is the fabulous view. But when we arrived, the shrubbery outside our patio had grown so high, it completely blocked the view! We were told that they are not allowed to cut it back per city ordinance. So if you are going to book a room there, be sure to get the top floor! Also when we arrived, the room was extrememly hot! It gets a wicked afternoon sun, and no one bothered to prepare the room for us by closing the drapes and turning on the air conditioning. Because it gets so hot, we had to keep the heavy, ackward drapes closed in the early evening -- so we never enjoyed the patio at all. There was a fireplace in the room, but upon returing from a romantic evening out, we could not find matches anywhere! The next day we inquired with staff, who also could not find any matches! She finally lent us her cigarette lighter to use the next night. How is it possible that they promote a fireplace, but have no matches?! Also upon arrival, we discoved the fan in the bathroom did not work. We were assured that maintenance would fix it the next day. We stayed four nights -- and it still was not fixed when we left. Also upon arrival, we found the bed sheets to be permanently stained! I immediately asked for new sheets, and the staff told me that all the sheets were that way because the owner is too cheap to buy new sheets! The medicine cabinet in the bathroom was dirty inside. When they cleaned the rooms in the morning, they did not empty the trash cans, clean the bathroom sink or shower stall, or give us new, clean wine glasses. Speaking of shower stalls, ours was so small, you could hardly turn around! And there are no counter tops in the bathroom, so there is no place to put anything, including a hair dryer. I had to dry my hair in the room using the desk. The bath towels are tiny and bogus -- not at all large and plush like you would expect at a resort & spa! The sliding glass door to the patio was impossible to open and close. And the breakfasts were nothing impressive or special. Tell me how this hotel rates 3 stars?! I truly would not recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your critiquing of our accommodation, we appreciate your candid criticism and will strive to answer your complaints as constructively as possible.
We are by law unable to trim the Gary Oak trees without permission from the city, we have been in contact with the appropriate authorities and they have granted us permission to trim the trees, which will be acted upon this coming week.
The staff have been instructed to make sure that the guests quarters are prepared ready for occupancy, we have taken steps to ensure that our staff are fully aware of all the aspects of making sure that the room and bathrooms are clean and up to top standards for our guests - this takes into account ensuring the rooms are well ventilated and supplies for the fireplace are readily at hand for our guests. We can only apologize for these oversights
We have contacted maintenance to repair the fan in the bathroom, thank you for bringing this to our attention. New bed linens and bath towels are being ordered this month. Our maintenance staff to ensure that they operate effectively will check all of the patio doors.
