Mountainside is the best place I have ever stayed. The staff are very friendly and strive to make your vacation the best. The hot tub and pool are awesome. They overlook the views of the mountains and the water. You couldn't get a better view.
Breakfast and coffee are always prepared first thing in the morning. You can enjoy a bowl of warm oatmeal to danish or bagels.
The beds are so comfortable, you will never want to leave it. You feel like you are off to dreamland in the clouds. There are nice jaccuzzi tubs in every room for that unwinding relaxation some of us need after a day checking out the sights.
You can bring your own snacks and make yourself a nice lunch to take on a picnic up the hill at the park. The staff are willing to help find anything you are looking for and even willing to map it out for you.
You have internet access for those who still on vacation, can't seem to get away from work. There is also a great board room - complete with a fireplace - for the best meeting place.
I would highly recommend a stay here. I had a wonderful and relaxing time. I will definately be going back. The only thing this place is missing is you....

“The little things”

This is a fantastic place to stay. It has great views on mount tolmie, its in a safe and quiet area. The hot tubs are very nice touch and the feather mattress is the best nights sleep ever. The balcony is a great place to relax and watch the sunsets. This place is great for honeymooners and couples alike. However do not expect too much. It could do with a few touches here and there. Some of the electrical fittings in the room are dodgy, the patio door needs lubing, the breakfasts need a bit more imagination (3 cereals, some fruits, breads, are all thats available), could do with a TV in the lounge area to make it more sociable. If Claire is your hostess, shes helpful, but don't expect to get on the internet as shes always playing games :-). This is a really nice place, but a few little touches could go a long way. Either that or get down the gym to move that patio door.

“very nice!”

my husband and i enjoyed our stay here. i had read some of the reviews just before we left so i was kind of expecting a lower class b & b. but we found our room very spacious, the deck and view absolutely gorgeous and the fireplace with complimentory presto log a nice romantic touch. the breakfast was perfectly fine and the room itself was nice and quiet. we found the hostess to be most helpful and friendly. i would recommend this b&b to a friend and perhaps even book for ourselves again. i found the view to be most enjoyable as we usually stay in victoria in the downtown area. this view of victoria almost made it feel like we were elsewhere!

“Beautiful house, bad experience”

The resort is beatiful and has an extrodinary view. It was the little things that were missing. All of the glasses placed in our room for use were unwashed, so when we poured champaign, we were unable to drink it. When we went to have a jacuzzie, there was hair all over it. Then, in the morning, when we went to have breakfast we noticed it was an hour later than we thought it was because the clocks in our room had not been changed to daylight savings time, and my boyfriend was late for his final exam. We did not get to have breakfast.

There were so many problems with our stay at Mountainside that I started making a list so I would not forget them all! One of the things they promote is the fabulous view. But when we arrived, the shrubbery outside our patio had grown so high, it completely blocked the view! We were told that they are not allowed to cut it back per city ordinance. So if you are going to book a room there, be sure to get the top floor! Also when we arrived, the room was extrememly hot! It gets a wicked afternoon sun, and no one bothered to prepare the room for us by closing the drapes and turning on the air conditioning. Because it gets so hot, we had to keep the heavy, ackward drapes closed in the early evening -- so we never enjoyed the patio at all. There was a fireplace in the room, but upon returing from a romantic evening out, we could not find matches anywhere! The next day we inquired with staff, who also could not find any matches! She finally lent us her cigarette lighter to use the next night. How is it possible that they promote a fireplace, but have no matches?! Also upon arrival, we discoved the fan in the bathroom did not work. We were assured that maintenance would fix it the next day. We stayed four nights -- and it still was not fixed when we left. Also upon arrival, we found the bed sheets to be permanently stained! I immediately asked for new sheets, and the staff told me that all the sheets were that way because the owner is too cheap to buy new sheets! The medicine cabinet in the bathroom was dirty inside. When they cleaned the rooms in the morning, they did not empty the trash cans, clean the bathroom sink or shower stall, or give us new, clean wine glasses. Speaking of shower stalls, ours was so small, you could hardly turn around! And there are no counter tops in the bathroom, so there is no place to put anything, including a hair dryer. I had to dry my hair in the room using the desk. The bath towels are tiny and bogus -- not at all large and plush like you would expect at a resort & spa! The sliding glass door to the patio was impossible to open and close. And the breakfasts were nothing impressive or special. Tell me how this hotel rates 3 stars?! I truly would not recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your critiquing of our accommodation, we appreciate your candid criticism and will strive to answer your complaints as constructively as possible.
We are by law unable to trim the Gary Oak trees without permission from the city, we have been in contact with the appropriate authorities and they have granted us permission to trim the trees, which will be acted upon this coming week.
The staff have been instructed to make sure that the guests quarters are prepared ready for occupancy, we have taken steps to ensure that our staff are fully aware of all the aspects of making sure that the room and bathrooms are clean and up to top standards for our guests - this takes into account ensuring the rooms are well ventilated and supplies for the fireplace are readily at hand for our guests. We can only apologize for these oversights
We have contacted maintenance to repair the fan in the bathroom, thank you for bringing this to our attention. New bed linens and bath towels are being ordered this month. Our maintenance staff to ensure that they operate effectively will check all of the patio doors.
