“Good for business and pleasure”

Clarion Hotel and Suites

1 May 2008

Work brought me to Winnipeg, and a coworker booked us all into the Clarion. It was quite lavish for the price, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable (answering my multitude of calls with questions the first night). It was noisy outside my first floor room situated near the entrance, however inside it was wonderfully peaceful. Each room has its own temperature control! There was not a microwave or fridge in the room, but everything was clean and inviting.

Amenities
~The pool is warm and fun, though one must sport your swim gear to the pool as there's no changerooms, and no room towels allowed (being on the first floor, that meant parading through the lobby in swimwear too). While I didn't make use of the on-site spa, it looked wonderful.
~An adjacent pancake house has great food and hours, and the hotel has its own parkade with ample parking only a couple yards from indoor corridors.
~Wireless internet was inaccessible from the room, but speedy sitting in the lobby, and the public-access computer was fast and reasonably priced. Printing included!

I have Stayed here a few times over the Last couple of years, Most recently I stayed here for 5 nights with my wife and two kids. During Manitoba Public schools spring Break.

First, this hotel has a Great location. it is right next to winnipegs' best shopping area. which is nice as the wife could stay at the mall while I took the kids back to the hotel to swim.

The pool area is great it has a decent slide and nice pool area. and was not too crowded considering it was spring break.

The average cost for this hotel is about $25 more than most hotels in winipeg that are comparable, but the location makes up for some of that. The other benefit is that being a little bit pricier, you get a little bit better clientele (not to be a snob, but i just hate going to a hotel that is full of people that don't have common respect for others)

It is also nice that there is no night club attached to the hotel, or large confrence hall, which in my experience usually translates to problems!

Parking is good, a nice multi level parkade that accommodates most vehicles, although my truck was too big and i had to park out front in the front loop which i preffered as i felt is was more secure.

The front desk staff are okay, not great, but okay. The cleaning staff were very nice and did a good job of cleaning the room. the hotel itself is starting to show some wear and tear particularly the hall way carpets and some of the furniture in the room.

There is a little lounge in the lobby that serves alcoholic beverages, which is nice to have at the end of the day!

Attached to the hotel is a pancake house which is good, espicially for breakfast.

All and all this is a average hotel with a great location.

We stayed in the one-bedroom suite with my parents, my wife, and child. It's a little crowded for 5 people but OK for four days. The location is wonderful - right next to Winnipeg's largest mall, and near lots of restaurants. The main road is right in front of the building, so getting downtown only took 10-15 mins.

The hotel is clean, and the pool was a nice treat. A definite plus for my 3 year old son. It's free covered parking, which is a nice change from the costly charges in other major Canadian cities. The high speed internet worked well and again, no cost.

I will definitely consider again in the future!

I found this hotel to be above average. The rooms were nicely decorated in a modern style with all the amenities you might need. I liked the Bath & Body Works products provided as well. My kids have been to the waterpark at this hotel many times, but this stay at Christmas was disappointing for them because the water was so cold they didn't want to stay in it for more than 10 minutes. We did let the front desk know this, but it didn't change during our stay. This hotel is in a great area if you want to shop...Polo Park is right across the street. I did find the price to be very high overall...and that would probably keep me from staying here again.

“Average but Good Location”

We stayed at this hotel near Polo Park shopping centre and the Winnipeg airport to celebrate our 9 year old son's birthday.
On their website, Clarion boasts "Our indoor waterpark is one of the largest in Canada", so we were really expecting an enormous waterpark (we have been to West Edmonton Mall waterpark).
The waterpark in this hotel appears pretty average to me. It is not terribly large, but seemed in good condition and clean. Our son did have a lot of fun, however.
The room we stayed in was quite clean, and even though it was a smoking room, the room did not smell of cigarettes. The room was fairly spacious and was quiet.
I do not recommend eating at the attached restaurant for lunch or dinner (IHOP?). Breakfast may be okay.?
The location of the hotel is great - it is immediately beside a large shopping centre, and is very close to the airport. If you are a football fan, the stadium is within walking distance.
