My husband and I chose this hotel because of location. One block up from Alderney landing and ferry to Halifax. We knew it was an older hotel so it did not surprise us to have slight disappointment on a couple of things. First when I booked, I had asked for a higher floor and queen bed. We received a 2nd floor room which only had a double bed. We decided not to complain as we were not going to be in the room much. The curtains were very thin and did not block out the light in the morning, such a shame ( sleeping in would have been a treat )as this hotel has a check out of 1pm which we liked very much. The room itself was in need of painting . The bed was comfortable, AC worked well, there was an extra blanket and pillow. It had a fridge( we used ) and stove, coffee maker and dishes. Free morning paper. Bathroom again very tired but clean, toilet cover was missing and no fan. Slight sulfer smell from the sink drain. Did have hair dryer but did not use. Nice towels. Patio overlooked the street at the front but double slidding doors kept the room quiet. Locks worked well. Good security door at front desk and friendly staff. Large sitting area on 2nd floor but not many chairs. Nice seating in front of lobby. Parking was on side street from hotel but had steps to back of hotel. Not very secure and not easy for elderly. Overall an O.K. hotel for the price. Would ask to see the room before getting keys next time but will probably use again. Tim Hortons close by . Very good Revana's pizza nearby with patio tables outside Whiskey's. Good hotel for easy going people.
