“Excellent hotel”

Halifax Marriott Harbourfront

We stayed at the Marriott Harbourside for 3 nights in early July. We asked if we could be given a waterfront room on the quiet side of the hotel and they were glad to oblige. We were given a corner room in the north wing and we were delighted with the room. The hotel has been recently refurbished and everything is in wonderful shape. We found all the staff friendly and very helpful. We love the proximity of the hotel to all the waterfront sites. Areas of interest in Halifax are generally in a 10 block area, and so it is relatively easy to walk to most sites from the Marriott. One large plus for the Marriott -- you can walk to many of the city attractions in the enclosed all season walkway -- very helpful in bad weather. As has been noted in previous reviews, $19 a day for parking is steep, but I suppose it's standard for "big city" parking.
You will be very pleased if you select to stay in this very attractive and well located property.

We stayed 3 nights at the Marriott Harbourfront and loved it! We lucked out and got our rooms for $80 per night on Priceline. We stayed in a 5th floor room for the first part of our trip and then a 2nd floor pool side room for the last night of our trip. Both rooms were spacious and clean and had an extremely comfortable bed. The room on the 5th floor had recently been remodeled and was beautiful. It had granite countertops in the bathroom, expresso colored cabinetry and had soothing white and pale yellow hues. The lobby was very open and airy and was decorated in a minimalist tone with beech colored woodwork, contemporary carpeting and lighting.

We dined at 44 North, the hotel's restaurant, and enjoyed the food and beautiful view of the harbor. The hotel's minimalist decor carried in to the restaurant with the beech colored wood floors, frosted glass panels, etc.

The hotel is right on the harbor's boardwalk and is walking distance to great restaurants and to the Citadel. It is also connected to Casino Nova Scotia via the sky walk system (enclosed pedestrian bridges).

I was not thrilled about the $15.95 per day fee to use the hotel's Wi-Fi or high speed internet, but was able to access the internet via dial-up using my company's 800-number. I was also a little discouraged that we had to pay $20 per day to park in the hotel's parking garage. Not something I expected in a smaller city.

We had a minor glitch during our stay in that the fire alarm tripped at 5:00 a.m. on the morning of our departure. The hotel staff were unsure of why it went off, but we appreciated the fact that it worked! I would have like the extra sleep, but this did not tarnish our overall wonderful experience at this hotel.

I don't want to give the impression that we were unhappy, because we loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again. We emphatically recommend this hotel to everyone!

We just returned from a trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We stayed three nights in the Marriott. The room was clean and very nice. All the staff was courteous. The only down side was paying $19.00 for parking. I felt that was pretty steep. The first two nights were on the front end of our trip and were facing the ocean and also facing the Lower Level so there was music going until about eleven at night. The last night we asked for a room on the other side of the building and it was quiet and peaceful.. Their beds are wonderful. It's convenient to everything. We ate at Salty's a couple of times and breakfast at a restaurant named Bluenose. Its a great place to stay but a bit pricey. The staff will go out of their way to please you.

We recently stayed one night at the Marriott Harbourfront. We found it to be a nice facility, up to par with Marriott standards. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings were in perfect condition.

We were put into a room on the side next to the "Historic Properties" building, where a great pub called "the Lower Deck" is located. I would NOT recommend this, as fairly loud music starts around 10pm. However, we asked to be moved and they accommodated us immediately.

Parking is expensive (CAD$19+ tax per night), but we found a metered spot across the street. Since we only stayed one night and we left the next morning before 8am, this worked fine for us.
