Stayed here for five nights. Plentiful and helpful front desk staff. Had a junior suite. Decor was OK, but clean. Bed was large and comfortable with crisp linens. Other hotel staff were very accomodating, and genuinely happy to help. Wonderful view of the water, and an extremely central location. Usable health club with sufficient equipment. Downstairs restaurant prompt and clean with good food. This would be my first choice for a return visit.

After noise complaint from a group (group was being too noisy and takes full responsibility for those actions), the hotel staff entered the guest hotel rooms without permission, packed guest belongings and left the items in a public area of the hotel. There were computers, people's eyeglasses, personal belongings and things of value that were thrown haphazardly in bags and left without proper security. This behaviour on behalf of the hotel is a disgrace. Respect for property and overall hotel security in this regard is terrible. Will definitely not return.

We always stay at the Cambridge Suites when in Halifax, as the location can't be beat, right across the street from the historic Citadel and central to everything downtown. We were there for an "Il Divo" concert in the middle of the worst snowstorm of the year and the hotel was full, but the service was still excellent. The young man who checked us in at the front desk even showed up at the room about 30 minutes later to check if everything was ok and deliver our evening chocolates. Although ours was one of the smaller suites it had a microwave, fridge and dishes and a seating area with table - great for a family and still cheaper than many of the other rooms downtown. I did notice that since we were there a year ago they have started to use deluxe linens with duvets and extra pillows- no polyester bedspreads in our room! (Posher toiletries too - seven different items - I counted them) We will always stay at the Cambridge.

This hotel is a disgrace, filthy and very unfriendly. The staff could not care less about service and it is very expensive for a very dated product.

Try to stay in one of the Delta's or the Marriott.

Even the management were rude and uncaring when I spoke to them, if this is the best Halifax can offer then Nova Scotia has big problems
