Stayed there this week on business. What a bipolar property. My room was great. Recently redone, very comfortable, great bathroom and shower, good water pressure, decent towels, comfortable bed, spacious desk to work on, great power outlets, TV etc.
However, that's where the good part ends. The service is deplorable and the food is inedible. Parking mentioned at $5 in other reviews is now $10 and if you arrive after 6 pm, you are walking a considerable distance underground to access the hotel. I requested a room away from the elevators when reserving on their website - you guessed it, my room was right next to the elevator. The worst experience however are their food outlets. My colleagues and I arrived later in the evening and due to the pouring rain, we stayed in the hotel to eat. Every single dish was essentially inedible or tasteless, on top of over priced. The service took forever.
It didn't get any better the next morning, 3 of us for breakfast, 2 of the orders were blatantly wrong. One of my co-workers had enough and refused to touch the meal at all. Finally at the table clearing stage, the waitstaff noticed this - 20 minutes later! Not once during the meal did she check in or ask what was wrong. She did remove the meal from the bill, mine was wrong as well, but I was so hungry from the night before I choked it down. How hard it is to poach an egg? It was the last time we tried to eat there, explored the restaurants downtown after that. Ladies, do NOT walk around after dark by yourself, this hotel is not in a good neighborhood. Take cabs or order in.
Any of the renovated rooms are a great choice. Never mind requesting a particular room, they ignore...
