My husband and I just returned today from a 4 night stay at this wonderful hotel and I could not wait to write a review. We travel regularly and I consider myself a hotel snob! We only stay at 4 star or more establishments. This hotel met and exceeded my expectations! From the moment our car service driver pulled in front of the hotel to drop us off a smiling friendly bellman was there immediately to assist with our luggage, he escorted us to the front desk where check in was a breeze and the front desk staff was delightful, he then proceeded to escort us to our room on the 12th fl, #1208 which we had booked in advance a fallsview king room with spa tub and fireplace, the view of the falls was exquisite! The room was spotless and very well kept and the spa tub was a joy to relax in. If I wanted to be overly anal I could say that the wallpaper in the bathroom could use updating but it is not my home where I have to live with it and in light of everything else the wallpaper was a non issue for me and as stated before everything was spotless and well kept! The fireplace in our room did not burn real flames but the ambiance of the flickering light that it gave off was very romantic. We had a minor issue with the toilet backing up, I dialed the AYS(at your service) department, they sent a engineer up within 15 minutes and the problem was fixed within 5 minutes! The food in the hotel like in any other higher quality hotel is a bit pricey but if you can afford to splurge the food is worth it, we ate in the restaurant for breakfast & dinner, $17.95 for breakfast buffet, dinner menu is'nt extensive but the food is exceptional, we ate in the lobby lounge for lunch, as well as ordered room service for breakfast one morning. If you venture out there are more affordable options in dining available, right next door TGI Friday's has a breakfast buffet for $8.99, down the block the Country Chalet has a $6.99 breakfast buffet and there are several affordable food options in the Clifton Hill area which you can get to by taking the hotel shuttle, there are also a lot of family fun things to do in Clifton Hill, something for kids of all ages! The main attraction for us in Clifton Hill was the Hershey's store! All kinds of chocolate goodies and there is a sundae station that opens for the summer season! We used the hotel gym it's small but sufficient, same with the pool, there is also a coed steam room and sauna in the pool area which is really nice. We got deep tissue massages and facials done at the hotel spa, in comparsion to other spas we have been to the level of service we recieved at the hotel spa was definitely exceptional! If you're into wine be sure to take the Niagara on The Lake(NOTL) winery tour, $99pp children under 12 are free, the price includes roundtrip transportation, lunch, the tastings, and the tour. The highlight for us was the Icewine! if you've never had it and you like desert wines it is a must try! After the winery tour we were taken to the town of NOTL and given time to stroll and browse, it's a quaint but upscale bustling little town with antique shops, boutiques of all sorts, old fashioned icecream shops, restaurants, historical homes and B&B's, you can also take a horse & buggy ride through town down to Lake Ontario, $40 for 15-20 min, $60 for 30-35min, pricey but we enjoyed the ride, the scenary and the narration from our buggy driver on the town history, as well as it being very romantic! After departing the town of NOTL the tour continued with a narration from our bus driver/tour guide of the surrounding counties, there is a lot of interesting and unique history in those areas. Of course if you're driving and are good with maps and directions you can visit the wineries on your own but be sure to check the hours of operation for the date and time you want to go. We're not into gambling however we did visit the Fallsview Casino for a round on the slot machines! It was all in fun for us and the Casino itself is very nice, there is the Grand Buffett on the casino floor level that is reasonable,$12 for breakfast, $17 for lunch, $22 for dinner and the variety of food is very good. What else can I say except that the falls are amazing!!!! Our stay was absolutely wonderful from start to finish and that was due in large part to the hotel staff! From the bellman, to the front desk, to the concierge, to housekeeping, to the wait staff, and the tour desk staff, everyone was friendly, polite, and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again, we are making this destination our little getaway for rest and relaxtion which was ultimately the purpose of our trip, however if you're more of a adventurer there's plenty for you to do!!!
